50 Truckers had a Prayer meeting last thursday...
a week later.."One of those" Long haul truckers
is the man who spotted the Snipers car,called 911, &
between him & another trucker, blocked the entrance
& exit of the rest stop. ( just in case)

GOD BLESS YOU LONG HAUL TRUCK DRIVER!!!

I was listening to a talk show this morning out of Cincinatti on the radio. The station is 700 WLW on a.m. The truck driver who made that 911 call , called into the station. The talk show host, at first kind of doubted that he was the one who actually made the call. They did verify that it was indeed him. He said that he did get any of the reward money for this, he would be donating most of it to charity. Also, he said he did not want to be considered a hero, he was just happy to know that he may have saved a life. I think they may be having him on the show again. Being a Truck Driver is a hard and thankless
job most of the time. Here is a poem that was
written about the job they do.

Written By D.F. (a Trucker)

In A Box

From inside a box, high above the ground on
which I travel, peering through a plate of glass.
I watch this world, my world, your world go by.

Ever vigilant to what is happening around me,
I have seen life anew itself and death at what
could be at its worst.

I have seen love and kindness that lightens
ones heart and makes life worth living.
I have seen hate that could blacken a soul
and take that life away again.

Always moving at a rapid pace,
never stopping but for what seems to be a
few moments in time. The sun rises from the
black, only to fall back again.

It leaves me alone in the cool night air,
with only the ever present humming from
the beast beneath my feet which aids me
along my way, and the sound of the wind
being forced around me as I hurry along,
the many paths that I have to follow.

The days pass like the miles that I cover,
rapidly and unknowingly aging me without
a care to how long I have been here,
or how long I will be here.

The seasons pass like a few days in a week;
spring, summer, fall and winter.
One never seeming to last as long as it should.

There are many around me hurrying to
their homes to be with family and friends,
never caring where I have been, where
I am going, what I have brought or what
I have taken.

Some just want me to get it there and to
move along. To others I am in the way,
wasting their precious time.

If they only knew how precious that time
at home with family and friends is,
and that we, the men and women in the
boxes, are like the blood that pumps through
their veins, keeping them going and alive.

For without us, there would be hunger,
death, and mass confusion
as all would come to a halt.
Perhaps then time would stand still
long enough for me to take a breath.

Yes, I am a truck driver.
Though mostly a thankless job,
I knowingly do what must be done
from inside this box
for my survival as well as yours.

...wow is all I can say!!

Hey,blueaguave I don't know what you do for a living,
but you really should be in some type of news media!
You are update on all the lastest & always post the top

My hubby is an over the road trucker...
Hey at times its great and other times it sucks.
I married him knowing he done this...
He has told me so many stories of stuff that he has seen on the road that is so unbelievable.
He also gets so upset about the reputation that Truckers have...
This is another thing that proves they are every day family men just doing a hard job.
There are that few that give truckers that nasty reputation.

Ya know I never really thought about this until one day when hubby and I were fighting about his job and he said to me
" ya know if it wernt for us hauling all this stuff you wouldnt have that blanket on your bed, that food in your fridge, that car in the driveway and those clothes on your back.
He made a very good point so before you judge a Trucker think about what my hubby said to me.

Now as for that poem I have to thank AngelswDirtyFaces, Thats one that surely hits home for me. Ill be sending that one off to all the truckers in my addy book and hanging that one the wall.

99% of truck drivers are awesome..they pay attention to what they are doing, as well as us little people in *4-wheelers* its the other 1% of twerps that give it a bad rep.
