Question

I have all of my Christmas shopping done except for hubby. I just don't know what to get him. He doesn't like jewelry, doesn't want clothes (he gained 50 lbs when "we" were pregnant), and doesn't need any cologne. Any ideas? Hey you guys out there, what's the ideal gift?

Does he golf or ski? Get him a golf package or ski lift tickets. Or if he likes going to concerts, find out who is coming to your town in the next 6 monthes and get him tickets to his favorite show. Or maybe tickets to a pro sports event? My husband is difficult to shop for too, but these have gone over real big in the past.

In our circle, it seems we men get the same gifts. I personally like them. These include
books, software, sports event tickets, sweatshirts, ties, art, cds, videos, and athletic equipment. I bet he'd like a Boxter.

My DH loves buying gardening books and supplies, but feels guilty spending the money. I can't pick out what he likes, so I usually give him some GC's -- then we spend a Saturday going to the stores and he gets to pick out his own stuff. I also buy him GC's for therapeudic massages. He LOVES getting a massage but hates spending the money on himself.

My husband collects Medical Helicopter pins(weird, but what can I say) Last year I e-mailed, and wrote letters to every flight program there is and about 80% sent me pins, I had them put in a frame and he loved it!

Just an idea if there is something he likes to collect of even wishes he could, maybe a "starter set"

Ohh, he's your husband, you should KNOW him So,, think about what you know about him... what does he like? What does he enjoy? What might he like if given the chance?

If you are looking for something outrageous: flying lessons.

Obviously, tools, books, clothes, stereo, Cd, car toys, "neat" gadgets, barware, movies, magazines, candy/nuts, electronics, sporting goods, are all popular "MAN GIFTS"

Give him something sexy: condoms, sexy movie, a thong (for you) a voucher for babysitting, a pack of polaroid film or video tape: Most husbands wouldnd't expect that in thier stocking!

A leather coat, a canoe, a DOG, a special coffee mug, a trip, tickets to a sporting event...

Gosh, if you just take the time to think of WHO your husband is (adventurer, sportsman, couch potato, father, lawn guy, mechanic, computer geek, lover, outdoorsman, health fanatic, party guy, cook, coffee drinker, OR whatever-- I could go on and on!!!) You'll be able to come up with a good gift!

Good luck.

Ok...I have to say something in 4erika's defense..first, I don't think she was trying to say she didn't know he hubby well enough to buy him a gift. I have known my husband for almost 17 years {more than half of my total life already} and I still find it difficult to buy him gifts..ok, he's a big sports fan, but you can only do the t-shirts, sweat shirts etc..so much. I would hope someone here could tell a unique gift they've given that went over well. Maybe there's a sports item I HAVEN'T seen or bought already. There's no harm in asking, for goodness sake, if we can ask family and friends suggestions for our childrens names, I would think this was a pretty harmless question.

4erika, I hope you come up with some very special gifts, including the ones that can be opened in front of the rest of the family.

My hubby and I plan to treat ourselves to a night alone around Christmas time. We'll of course do the little gift giving on Christmas, we are always so worn out with the activities that surround this time, that we plan on doing this as part of our gifts to eachother. We don't like to go hog wild on gifts to eachother for the simple fact that we have MANY people we have to buy for. This way we both get what we really want if only for a night- PEACE and RELAXATION!!!! I think next year I will manage to get us away for an entire weekend

Thanks for all of the ideas. He doesn't like sports, thank goodness...but I thought the massage idea was great. We have a good friend who is a massage therapist, and he used to go all the time. Maybe I can make him an appointment so he has to go. I was also thinking about seeing if the day spas around here have a men's package. Maybe he can get a shampoo, manicure, and massage.

Erika--Why don't you like sports? They promote physical activity and a sense of teamwork. Okay, stepping off my soapbox.

I actually do like quite a few sports, just not the "typical guy" kind. I like gymnastics, running, and dancing. My husband likes "motorsports". Is that a word?
