I Have Such Crap Luck @ Times, but....

thankfully it worked out. Ok..now most of you know what state of "excitement" this household has been in the past month. Well...last week I had gone to the PO to drop my rent payment off. I always ask Collette to make sure it gets in our landlord's PO Box ASAP. She usually stamps it and plops it in. I have a PO Box there also, but I don't really use it for much. I had gotten it before we officially moved into this house, now it's used mainly IF any Child Support payments are received. Much easier to keep it than change my addy w/ the agency. ANY HOW, I don't carry my check book with me at all times so I just purchased a Money Order from the Post Office instead of driving home to get my check book....yesterday our one landlady emails me and asks if there were any problems making last months rent. Our rent was raised $40 the month before. She was very nice about it, but I had already taken it in last week. I was so freaked. The husband emailed me this morning saying he checked their PO Box last night and it still wasn't there. Well...I got the receipt etc..and told him I would go up to the PO after the boys caught the school bus. First thing I did was check my PO Box..TA-DA! Collette had put the rent envelope in my mailbox! The envelope was addressed with our landlord's correct addy, but she just made a mistake. She attached a small note explaining what had happened and I stopped at our landlord's house on the way back to let her know what happened. Thankfully it all worked out and for once I wasn't the cause of a goof, but I have to tell ya...I really was ready to just cry because I didn't want to deal with a money issue. If it would have been "lost" a new MO will not be re-issued for 60 days from the date of original purchase and I would have had to pay the rent again to cover our landlord's cost, since it wasn't THEIR mistake. Our rent makes the payment on the house so they would have had to deal with their bank and I would have felt like it was my fault even though it truly wasn't. I am just glad it was such a simple thing to take care of, but I really do feel quite stupid for not checking my PO Box even yesterday when they emailed me. Whew...sooooo...that's my story! LOL!

well thank goodness it was fixed so easily...2 whole months for a rent check would not be good *phew* i woulda definitely been sweating that ((((((mousie))))))))!!

and i know how you feel, sometimes i think if it weren't for bad luck, i'd have no luck at all!!

Hee hee...I can't EVEN begin to tell ya all how relieved I was that I didn't have to go thrugh all of the trouble of doing a claim and such. It was kinda funny how I went about it tho..lol..you have to understand that I just adore Collette, she's just a real sweet woman..to the core! After I saw the envelope with the Mouse return label and Pooh stickers in MY PO Box I walked in and asked "Collette, remember last week when I bought the MO for the rent and we joked about me getting Child Support papers again? How you know I haven't gotten a cent in a long time and then joked about the judgement being for $20, you said "How do they expect you to go out to lunch if he won't pay?" Well..uhhh...Jackie emailed me yesterday to say they still hadn't received the MO and I just checked my box...the rent payment was in there hon'.
She was floored....I laughed about it tho because there wasn't any harm done and I was so relieved to be able to explain what happened to the payment. She instantly started writing out a note to Jackie as to let them know I wasn't late and wasn't at fault. Heck, Jackie thinks the world of her also and didn't "blame" her either. I am surprised she doesn't do it more often because we end up talking for 15 minutes most of the time so you would think she would forget what she was doing anyways! LOL!
