Need help with Napster

Can someone help me out and give me a brief rundown on what I need to do to download music from Napster? I installed the Napster program but I guess I am confused as to how you organize the songs and how you pick how you are going to play them on your computer. Eventually I'd like to get a CD burner, but I thought that I'd better figure out what I'm doing first. Anyone have any general tips? I'd appreciate any info you can give me.

Ok , I am not sure I have the most current version of Napster, but I will do what I can to help ! First of all , if you downloaded Napster and can open it and it logs you on to their site , you've atleast got that down !hehe - At the top of Napster you should see - File - Actions - Help (unless your version is different than mine (v2.0 beta 6) Under File you should find connect, disconnect, prefernces and exit . Exit is what you need to click to close napster , x'ing the screen doesn't let you exit napster you should still see it by your clock on your computer if all you did was hit x to close it. Preferces (under file) you will find - Personal , chat , schemes ,sharing, downloading and proxy. If you have a winamp player (which is what I use) You can get it at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] and set this as your default player on your computer. If this is too much trouble I would reccomend just using the Napster internal player. You can set it to this under personal in preferences. You can also set your chat prefernces under chat. Put whatever # you want each user to be able to get from your computer under sharing (maximum simultaneous uploads per user) - Under downloading in prefernces you can set how many you want to be able to upload at a time. Proxy I am not sure about. If you change anything here click ok at the bottom.

The help button at the top is self exlpanatory , and you might want to check it out to answer some of your questions . And the Actions button at top allows you to - instant message ( send a private message to someone) - add user to hotlist ( keep track of friends you make and see thier complete library of songs) - get user info - join chat rooms - view ignore list -

Below File action and help you will find this -

CHAT - LIBRARY - SEARCH _ HOTLIST - TRANSFER -HELP

Chat - Is pretty easy - there are private messages and you hit chat then highlight the room you want or create your own , then join. Hit leave when you are ready. While chatting you can hit the other tabs at the top ( it will not make your chat go away)

Library - Is where your downloaded songs go to..Once you have songs there you can highlight it and right click to-play song,add to playlist,delete from disk or refresh library ( after you download a song go to library and right click anywhere and then hit refresh library where the box pops up - for your song to show up if it is not there) Your internal napster player is here too !

Search - Search is the place to find the songs you want ! You type in anything you have - artist , song title both or only one or the other , it doesn't matter ! Then hit Find it - A list should come up - you want to highlight what you want and hit get selected song. You should then go to Transfer screen - At the top you should see the information and the progress of the download. If you highlight the song in progress and right click you will also find some options there.

Hotlist - Here you add people to your hotlist so you can see when they are online and their libraries of music. Hit add user to hotlist at the bottom and type in their name , then hit ok. It should show the on and offline users ( napster is a hard place to find your friends though - numerous servers here) Highlight the buddy you want , and right click and then view information. Their library of music should come up and you can download from them if you wish.

Transfer - This is where you view the information on downloads (songs you are getting at the top ) and uploads (songs people are getting from you at the bottom) - If a song isn't going anywhere or you see no progress or it is remotely queued or waiting - right click on the highlighted song (as i said before ) and force transfer. This may or may not work. When songs are done you can hit clear finished at the bottom. If you want to cancel anything highlight it then hit cancel. When a song is done it should say completed. You can go to your library and right click then hit refresh and the song should be there if it wasn't already !

The red green in yellow lights on napster represent the speed of the users computer - slow =red - medium = yellow - green = fast !

Hey I neep help too.
I have 3 months free and just downloaded the program.
When I click sign in a box pops up and thats it.
I have the correct ports open and medium security risk set.
Please Help someone
