I just got a email from Marantha Christain Journal and they have got a banner running on their website that posts Amber alerts. With all of the recent Amber alerts lately I thought I'd post the info so if anyone is interested in putting it on their own website you can check it out. Here is part of the email:

"As you know, there has recently been a large number of reported child
abductions around the USA. Just this morning, another child was abducted in
my own county -- two men abducted a 9-year-old boy Wednesday from his home
in Palm Desert, California, and sped away in a white SUV.

In response to these crimes, Bryant Harper, President of BigHits.com, Inc.
has developed the Code Amber Alert Ticker to provide every web site owner
with the ability to display Amber Alerts on their site by adding their Alert
Ticker.

You can see the ticker at the top of our home page at:

free. If there are no active Amber Alerts, the Ticker will scroll

to their sites. Clicking any link displayed in the Ticker will open a new
Browser window so your visitors never leave your site.

This is the best service I've seen hit the Web in a LONG time! Kids are
being abducted every single day. Let's help get some of them home! Please

I think this is an amazing idea.. and I think we should keep this bumped and hope that the DOD Admin will agree with how very important this is.. every little bit helps.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children also has a ticker banner that you can put on your website or, if you're like me and don't have one but do have auction listings on ebay, you can add to your auction listings. Just think of the exposure (literally worldwide) you can give these kids, both with the Amber Alert banner and the Missing Kids banner, just by adding them to your site and/or listings! Here is the code for the missing kids banner:

Just wanted to let you know... I loaded the code from the Amber site, and it didn't work. I then went to your site and loaded it from there... same thing. Getting Java script error. Not sure what is causing the error, but my site takes all kinds of code because I enter it in CuteFTP... Seems to be hiccupy? I'm using MIE6, win98, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. Oh well... the other code is up and running on my Favorites Page.

I'm sorry, I know nothing about java script or all of that, maybe you could email someone on the amberalert site??? I just am passing on the info, I thought it was an amazing idea and like someone else said with all of the people checking in here daily just think of the exposure these alerts could get. Great idea on Ebay too!!

Oh Andee I didn't mean it was your fault. lol I do know about scripts... and sometimes on certain browsers they don't work, etc... all kinds of stuff happens. I did email them a trouble report. I do have the other script running nicely on my Favorites Page - right at the top. You can see it at:

Oops, sorry...I know you didn't mean anything by it. I just felt bad because it wasn't working well for you. I wish I did know more about that stuff! I'm your basic "can turn it on and off" computer person. lol Sometimes when I write a response, it doesn't come out exactly how I intended it. Again, I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound harsh. Hope you can get it up and running better.

Hey Andee... Just wanted to let you know...
I've been emailing Bryant Harper - re: the AmberAlert banner.

I have it up and running fine if you're using MIE - however it won't show up on Netscape. I've let him know and he's working on that now.

I'm very interested in this because back in 1979 my son was stolen from me.

I also have the image/link posted on my Favorites Page for the Missing Children.

Anyway... he's working on the problems. Thanks and you have a great DAY!
