| Grrrrrr. People using their cell phones when they shouldn't.
I'm in the computer lab right now and some girl is talking on her cell phone right behind me. They ask people to be quiet in the lab, but usually people don't care. Now I'm not doing anything important right now, but still doesn't mean I want to hear her whole conversation loudly. I've been in the lab before writing a paper (not doing it at home to avoid the distractions), some idiots comes in and CALLS somebody on their cell, and I can hardly concentrate on my paper. It's one thing to answer your phone in the lab (the nice people go outside to talk after it rings), it's another to be so rude to just call somebody while you're in there. Some people have no cell phone etiquette, they think just because the thing is portable they can use it anywhere they happen to be. I've actually seen people having loud conversations in the library and the MOVIES. Drives me nuts!!!!!! __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. That's NOTHING, when we were (literally) burying my Nana (just shy of three months ago) a relative's cell phone went off. TACKY and down right RUDE to say the least! Not for anything, there is such a thing as a vibrating battery, etc. DH relies heavily on his cell phone and invested in one that is both a phone/pager and has vibrating options....... So if he's in the middle of meeting with a client and his phone goes off there are no (obvious) interruptions. Some people I guess just feel cell phones are so the "norm" that they have totally forgotten about etiquette ![]()

I still say the worst is women who use their cell phones in the bathroom!!!! Where I used to work, we had a gal who did that constantly!! "Yes, hello, oh don't mind the noise in the background...I'm just taking a pee....so what did you want to talk about?" Talk about an inappropriate time to use the phone!!!! |

This goes along with whomever was in the library that time and was really getting interested in the other conversation going on....Can't remember who posted that one!!

I have to agree with you, totally rude and inappropriate time to use the phone. Now when Andy isn't home and Tom is in school, I do take mine with me when I go the library or something but I always turn my ringer to the beep once function so it doesn't disturb everyone and I can step outside to answer it. It is my alternate emergency contact number for the school so I need to have it just in case when I am not home but I don't have to annoy everyone with it. |

I work in retail. Here are my cell phone pet peeves: 1. Using it in the bathroom. I see (or hear rather) it daily. 2. Seeing an eight year old calling her friend in the store on her mom's cell phone. Not only do I find this inappropriate, but I can't help but think about the reports of links between cell phones and brain tumors and wonder if we're going to see a major cancer increase in our soon-to-be teens. 3. "Excuse me Ma'am, can you help me? I need a.....<ringing phone>.....Hello? Hey, how are you? I've been meaning to call you. No nothing much, just shopping." As I wait and wait and wait...knowing from experience that if I walk away the entire store will know from the customer's screaming about how rude *I* am. When do I think they're helpful? When the person is trying to describe to me what their wife wants and I have 3 totally different types to show them. They can call up and we immediately have resolution. That's when I like 'em a lot. ![]() I don't like cell phones in general, but DH and I are considering getting one (or two) of the prepaid ones now that I'm pregnant. I like the idea of having one if I get stranded in a blizzard around the time my water breaks. And he likes the idea of being able to be reached anywhere/anytime. But the hospital paperwork says they have "Daddy pagers" for expectant fathers, so we may go that route instead...at least for him. ![]() Jackie __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. What ticks me off is overhearing cellphone conversations while in public places. On a city bus, a woman nearby is talking to her girlfirend and is describing her date last night. She says, "Sally, you won't believe what he wanted to do?" Well, my response is "No, he wants what?" Then she gets upset and says this is a private conversation. I don't think it's that private, with her shouting details all around the bus. People are rude, but they also seem to be in a dream world. They think that just by whipping out the cellphone and calling a friend, the rest of the world disappearsand no one else matters. Wrong! |

I got my 1st cell phone about 9 years ago when I was pregnant with Steven .........I like the fact that the schools can reach me if I'm out running errands,etc...... DH HAS to have one, not an option. He is in outside sales and spends most of the day on the road. I have to be able to get in touch with him. He recently got a new phone that doubles as a pager not to mention I can e-mail the pager (nice lil feature!). It's becoming more a necessity rather than a luxury. However, I see no reason teeny-boppers need to tbe walking around making/receiving calls on a cell phone. PUH-LEAZE! I think some cell phone users think the people AROUND them are the ones who should be more respectful. I don't mind seeing people on their cell phones too much, I have to giggle tho at times because I wonder what is so important that it just can't wait. Especially in the center of a grocery aisle. It's bad enough when 2 people meet up in the aisle and you're standing there saying "Excuse me" and waiting for them to take notice so you can get around them, but I've had some people look at me like I'm the one being rude because THEY are on the phone. Maybe I caused them to move and lose a good signal...geesh! I REALLY wish it was the law to pull over (off the road) when you talk on a cell phone. I do understand the importance of many people having them, but some people don't have any business trying to multi-task! LOL! __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now], or go directly to [Only registered and activated users can see links.
