Just wanted to share this in this forum and I hope that it will be appropriate. I saved over 18.00 in coupons today when I went to Walmart. It was the first time ever that I have used over 10 coupons in one trip. I got my dogs a lot of food and treats with coupons from DOD trade and I got 7 Reese's FastBreak FREE with the coupons I printed out from the current contest. I felt sorry for the cashier having to write the amount 0.38 over and over on the coupons LOL. But even more so for the lady behind me in frustration Im sure. I cannot wait to save money again ![]() WOOOOweeeee.. and whos going to devour those candy bars? It aint going to be me cuz I dont need them LOL THANKS FOR letting me share~CORG THE TART~ <life is living>

Corgi- Great job! I never used coupons when I was younger. Double coupons are very rare around here, but I managed to get in on a promo last Saturday. My original total was $155...less $20 by using that savings card= $135....less coupons($65)=.....$70!!! WooHoo!! I'm sure there are plenty of you out there that can do better, but this is the best I've done and I'm happy with it. |

OMG Cathy, that is awesome savings you have done there!!! That money saved right there can go toward a lot of things!!! GOod job!! I go to Ingles to get my coupons doubled but there are not any discount card or savings card around where I live. My mom buys most of the grocery around our house, but I restrain myself from buying when I dont have the coupons I need in hand. Question: If the scanner says I have a $1.00 off coupon, but on the coupon it is a $0.75 off, why can't the cashier give me the dollar off? She was like, I'll do it manually. I wanted the quarter off too LOL being the cheapskate that I am. The cashier at Wal-mart was horrified that I even mentioned her accepting expired coupons. She didnt want to be reprimanded I guess by her manager LOL as she was the "Star Cashier" for Walmart. Heheheh.. Geez gimme a break.

This is too cool. I thought I was the only cheapskate, uh, um, frugal person shopping with coupons clutched in my grimy little paw. Yesterday at Ralphs (now owned by Kroger), I bought $100.66 worth of groceries for $30.63. Club card, double coupons, Ralphs special store coupons and sale items did it. In addition, they now owe me 2 free movie tickets to "Spirit", the new kiddy movie that's coming out next week, for spending so many dollars in so many days or some such thing. Golly, I just love capitalism, don't you guys? DH and I rarely do a durn thing without some kinda coupon or discount. Corgi, you keep it up! |

I don't like the store discount cards. I think the prices after the discount are similar to stores that don't have the cards. I think it is a gimmick to make you think you are saving more money. Also, I can do as well with a single coupon on a sale item at my usual grocery store as I can on double coupon day at the other store. You have to know your prices. I did save $65 with coupons that day, but many of those items could've been purchased at those prices elsewhere. The main point though is that I could make one trip and get some things at the usual price I would pay, some things at a lower price than I would usually pay, and a few free items. Anyway, it is fun though time consuming at first to use coupons and find the best deals. I am to the point, too that I rarely buy anything without a discount. |

Cath posted:"I don't like the store discount cards. I think the prices after the discount are similar to stores that don't have the cards. Publix advertises that they have lower prices than Kroger, and 'No card, no hassles" but over and over again I find Kroger has the better deal. Publix tries to trick people on their shelf tags, you can think you are comparing apples to apples, but you are comparing apples to oranges sometimes...for example I one time was comparing sandwich bags. They had one priced with the breakdown of price per ounce, and the other brand packaged with the price per UNIT, which made them totally uncomparable, but Publix had it set up so that Publix LOOKED like it was the better price. They also have '2 for $__ " and 'buy one get one free' deals, but when the math is done, it's HIGHER than the price at Kroger with or without the card. Maybe it's just Publix, but that kind of trickery turns me off.
