Great link! I love using my crockpots (I have 6 of 'em!), especially whenever we entertain, I'll have at least 3 of them going with swedish meatballs, kielbasa w/grape jelly and chili sauce, and my prizewinning chili!

Thanks so much for sharing, and be sure to thank your mom too!

Thanks! I'm going to use a different one every day! This is a great way to cook if you have kids in sports/activities. Everyone can eat a hot meal whenever they can fit it in their schedule.

I have a crock pot (wedding present 17 yrs ago), but dying to get another bigger and better. I almost bought one yesterday at Kohls. It was 6 quarts I think and you can program it to turn off after so many hours.
What kind should I buy?

Wow! Thanks for sharing that, Paula! I love crockpot cooking. Makes the afternoon so relaxing and since I'm such a lazy cook this is perfect for me.

OMG..I'm so sorry I forgot to come back here..been busy looking thru the recipes..LOL! Man-o-man..anyone here having a hard time picking which one to do first? LOL! You guys are so sweet. bbelover, you're just too much (as Martha Stewart would say "It's a good thing."..hee hee).

I'm telling ya, I love to use the crockpot in the cooler months. I only have 2 so I must me a light-weight..LOL! Especially compared to mama2calli..yowza! LOL!

cata5..both of mine are Rival brand..the smaller one I have had for about 10 years or so..I know Mom had hers forever. One year for Christmas we both asked for a new Crock..hee hee..she bought me one and I bought her one! It was an even easier year that time, well...that's not really true..buying for Mom is soooo ez!

tkkmasky..do you have a bread maker as well? That's another goodie I break out for the cooler weather..I also make a lot of loaves for Christmas gifts..I get a little bored with those funky shaped loaves so I'll just make the dough in it and bake them in the "traditional" bread pans in the oven..ohhhhhh I LOVE the smell of fresh baked bread!

Whatcha all think, come back here and post when you try one of the recipes..give us all some hints..tell us if it went over well or not and maybe if you substituted any of the ingredients.

Can you use uncooked pasta in the crock pot? I've never used rice and noticed the recipes call for minute rice. Couldn't you use regular?
I just realized as much as I use my crockpot, I always make the same type things like roast,BBQ, or stew. I've never used rice or pasta. ??

cata...hmmmm..dunno for sure babe, but I do have to tell ya..I would think if there's going to be "juices" created, it would be fine to use ANY raw rice. I know this may sound crazy to some, but when I make Lasagna, I don't cook the noodles prior to layering. I use to watch a couples child when I was a teenager and the DW had a friend that was a chef and he told her he NEVER pre-cooked the noodles. I moisten them a bit, almost like rinsing them and when I layer it I just make sure I have a thin layer of sauce above and below the noodle. I just "poke" with a fork and then I know if the noodles have gotten tender enough. I think it keels the lasagna a little more "formed".

Mouse.....yep, I have a bread maker, and I LOVE it, I use it all the time. For holidays when we visit someone I make up a special loaf of some kind (Italian herb, or whatever) to bring as a gift, it is always a big hit. My machine is kind of an older one, and the loaves are really nice shaped, and big, over 2 pounds. I know my mom has a newer machine and the loaves look weird to me, and little too!

I also use it to make dough in, for French bread that I form into those long loaves and bake in the oven, pizza dough, dinner rolls, etc. But sometimes I do like to bake bread by hand, it really isn't all that hard to do. And it makes the house smell nicer to bake bread in the oven than in the bread machine, my machine doesn't really let any of that great smell out.
