carpet cleaning

let me tell you what i just did....my carpets have been looking real real real bad...being short on money i couldn't buy the darn shampoo stuff to go in my KIRBY.. (piece of crap don't buy) anyway... my friend had mentioned to me that she uses dawn and bleach in her carpet cleaner...i said ok...seeing as how i'm not getting paid today (see thread on general chit chat) that i'm gonna get these darn carpets cleaned if i have to get down and scrub them by hand... i didn't..i put bleach and dish detergent in my kirby (against the distributer recommendation) and cleaned the crap out of my carpets...let me tell you something...that's the BEST job that kirby has ever done cleaning my carpets!!

My carpets need cleaning as well. So...what color is your carpet and how much Dawn and Bleach and Water?~~Many thanks~~Debbie

well....i used it on my white berber carpet...which did really well..a few places i had to get in there and scrub with a towel.... but it looks nice now.... one is off white...no biggie...the other three are a darker tan color...no probs at all.... for my kirby.... if you all are familiar with one....i filled it up to the third line and the little scoop from the laundry detergent...well..used three of bleach three of dish detergent......didn't lighten my other darker carpets..if you don't have a kirby..just like..use your discretion..try the least amount you think will work ....then if it doesn't add A LITTLE more
