I thought these were pretty good ideas from the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] website:

Prevent a deck chair from slipping through the cracks of a dock.
Slit four Wilson Tennis Balls and fit them on the feet of the deck chair.

Store valuables.
Make a two-inch slit along one seam of a Wilson Tennis Ball, then place valuables inside. If you hide the doctored tennis ball among your other sports equipment, remember not to use it.

Soothe insect bites.
Dissolve two Alka-Seltzer tablets in a glass of water, dip a cloth into the solution, and place the cloth on the bite for twenty minutes.

Boost the strength of liquid laundry detergent.
Add one-half cup Arm & HammerBaking Soda with the usual amount of detergent in your regular wash cycle

Maintain your septic tank.
Flush one cup Arm & Hammer Baking Soda down the toilet once a week. Baking soda helps maintain proper pH and alkalinity, controlling sulfide odors.

I also heard that if you let a gallon of milk go bad, and flush it down the toilet, it helps get the right enzymes (?) in your septic system to keep it working right!

When I was a kid, my mom would make a paste of baking soda and water to smear on insect bites. Also, adding baking soda to bathwater was very soothing for insect bites and chicken pox.

I have used the baking soda for insect bites. Also this is awful but chewing tobacco is good for yellow jacket bites. When we were working in the hay field I had the bad luck of getting bit. Uncle alway chew, gross but when your swelling like a ballon anything is OK. He takes some of it and wraps my hand up and darn if it didn't go right down. But still gross.
