I did a search on this, but didn't find that anyone had mentioned "The Tightwad Gazette", by Amy Dacizien (sp?). This is the absolute BEST book, with lots of great ideas, as well as discussing how to deal with people who think you're nuts for being cheap. This is NOT a dry list of penny-pinching ideas. The author discusses things like why you might want to quit your job, and how it can be done. She has lots of psychological and philosophical information about "tightwaddery", and she's FUNNY, too! There are actually 3 books: "The Tightwad Gazette", "The Tightwad Gazette II", and "The Tightwad Gazette III". They sell for about $12 each, or you can also get them bound together, I believe. They very useful; I've had them in my home for about 7 years, and go through them again and again. They make great, fun reading, especially when you can't sleep, or are feeling insecure about finances. Most libraries have them, so check them out. As you can see, I am quite enthusiastic about these books. If anyone else has read them, I'd love to hear your opinion!

Love It's Amy Dacyczyn aka The Frugal Zealot

I love her books, have them all. She really has some good tips in them. Lots of good recipes to fill the old product bottles with, like barbecue sauce, salad dressings, pancake syrup, and such. I have found myself checking the book lately more & more. I also was a member of her newsletter that she had a few years ago. There are so many great tips in the book, it has more than paid for itself long ago.

I haven't read them yet, but if it weren't almost midnight here, I'd be trotting right off to my local library. Frugalness (?) is becoming more and more important and necessary. Will have to go tomorrow I guess.
