Use old fashion way to dry clothes

Dear Readers,
Drying clothes on a close line really does make sense, in light of our electric rates going up in the last year in the Chicago area. You can even do it year round if you are the rugged type such as my self. My electric dryer uses 5300 watts of power. That is a lot of power. I know some living areas won't let you put up a clothes line now a days. It's an abomination. I practice my advice and save a bundle on the electric bill each month.

Re: Use old fashion way to dry clothes

This is my first reply in this forum...hope I am doing this right.........anyway, I agree with you 100%. I too hang laundry outside to dry. I live in Texas, we can hang laundry out year round here in my area. When we do have rain I use my 3 drying racks. I use my dryer very little. I don't like how it shrinks clothes. Roxie

I've been hanging clothes to dry for so many years now. As long as you do it outside or at least close to outside air then your clothes will be fine. Hanging wet clothes indoor with little or no air coming in is a no no though

Re: Use old fashion way to dry clothes

Home owners rules where we live say its not allowed to hang the laundry outside to dry.I hang on rods under a skylight in the master bath.We got rid of a linen closet (moved it)in the bath and put in a hang area with a drain and got a larger skylight. The skylight can be opened to let in fresh air.We put house plants under the skylight when they need extra light, they are normally on windowstills.
