I'm looking for cheap, quick recipes for a family of six. There are only 4 in the family counting my 16 mos old, but my husband eats enough for at least two. LOL Did I stress quick enough? I hate to cook. |

You can try going to a search engine like [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or

Taste of Home has different magazines, but the one I love is quick cooking. The best thing is that most of the recipes have ingredients that you have on hand. There are several sections including "10 minutes to the table","30 minutes to mealtime","centsible foods-fast and frugal", and my favorite "give me 5 or fewer"(ingredients). You can always find microwave recipes and crock pot recipes, too. I'm sure you can find cheap and fast recipes there. We have 7 in our family so I know where you're coming from! [Only registered and activated users can see links. Thanks for the suggestions! I will try all of these. I have been looking for cheap and easy. I get so bored with what we normally eat, but I admit that I don't want to invest a lot of time cooking fancier meals. Thanks again!

Here is a quick and cheap recipe I learned from my mom for Goulash..... Here are the ingredients: 1 lb ground hamburger (or ground turkey, it tastes the same) 1/2 a green pepper diced 1/2 a regular onion diced 2 cans Campbells tomato soup (my mom says only this brand of soup...must be the {secret ingredient !!!) 1 16oz box rotini or elbow macaroni Ok.....to make this even quicker, boil the water at the same time you are cooking the meat. Cook the meat, pepper, and onion togethor until the meat is done Add the tomato soup, bring to a low boil for about 5 minutes ( make sure you stir it a couple times so it doesn't stick ), then cook for an additional 10 minutes. Add the macaroni to the boiling water, cook according to package.....mine usually takes 8-10 minutes...same amount as it takes to cook the sauce.... Drain the macaroni, mix the sauce and macaroni togethor.......top with parmesan cheese if desired and VOILA !!! A quick and easy dinner in about 30 minutes or less. And about $6 bucks to make...if not cheaper !!! Quick tip-- I put the noodles back into pan I cooked them in and add the sauce...saves another dirty bowl !! Let me know what you think...This is one of my hubby's favorites |
