Aromatherapy neck wraps?

I was just at my neighbors and she has slippers filled with something (I am guessing rice and misc). Anyway, you microwave them and then put them on. Ohhhhhh! I have seen the neck wraps in the mall for like $30. I will not spend that on these things since I know there has to be a cheaper way to make them. Now does anyone know how? Then I was thinking how nice a seat sized one would be for my leather truck seats or my son's car seat in the cold MN winters! Oh the uses for this thing could be endless. Can you help me?

Thanks!

Re: Aromatherapy neck wraps?

There was a gal who worked in hubby's office that made these. She's not here to ask how, but I did buy one from her and it was just prequilted fabric (I'm pretty sure she got it at WalMart) and she filled it with dry rice, millet seed and used aromatherapy oils.

To use it, you just pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds/1 minute and it does keep the heat for a good 10-15 minutes - perfect to get rid of cramps (which is what she made my DD one for).

I'm sure you could easily find the millet seed at any Farm & Fleet store or other feed store. Then you'd just make the pouch the size you'd like by folding the fabric in half, sew it up most of the way, pour in the filling and finish it off. You could experiment with how much filling you have inside to get the proper weight - just be sure to not overfill it! And don't overheat either as the seeds/rice can pop

Re: Aromatherapy neck wraps?

I got one of these warm body wraps from drugstore.com on sale, and I love it for my neck and shoulders - really helps to loosen up muscles with that deep, penetrating heat. (If you do eBates, don't forget this store for 6%, and you can usually find coupon codes, too.) To see what they carry, do a search on their site for DreamTime. I got an eggplant colored one that is filled with buckwheat (I'm pretty sure) and clove and eucalyptus. It is almost too fragrant, but I'm sure it will dissipate, and it is, after all, aromatherapy. It holds a lot more heat than you'd think it would (it's also great if you're 'just freezing and can't get warm')... and conversely, you can freeze it to cool off in hot weather.

Right now, I see that drugstore.com has the lavender one on sale for $19.99, which I think is a pretty good price.

WONDERFUL! Thank you so much!

Now, you all know what I will be doing tomorrow. That gets me out of cleaning, an excuse is a great excuse.
