Funny story from a Focus Group

Hey!
I went to a focus group on Monday night. Very cool- made $125 for 2 hours with dinner discussing wireless plans.

I had to laugh though- it was for business people. I recruit from home so I was legit and there were 2 other people (1 had an IT training company and the other was an insurance agent) that were 100% business. The other 6 people- I almost giggled through the introductions. You will too! I swear I am not making this up!

1. "Hi, my name is _________ and I have my own company. We go into retail, restaurant and apartment complexes to evaluate customer service skills of various companies' employees."

HMMMMM.... would you be a mystery shopper? I was dying!

2. Hello, I am _____ and my "own" company deals with going into a variety of retail organizations and marketing certain products through samples, demos and distributing marketing material."

HMMMM... have you gone into Sam's and handed out weiners on toothpicks?

3. Hi! I have a large self-owned company in the Atlanta area that goes into Walmarts, Kmarts for example and do general shelf inspections, product stocking and marketing for a variety of companies.

Okay- this one I bought at first. She was sitting next to me and I asked for her business card and if she was looking for help. She laughed and said- I made that up- it's like mystery shopping, I sign up with companies to do this on-line .

Does anyone know anything about #3?

Anywhoo- everyone had a "company" and it was stuff we do on line. The leader of the focus group bought it!

Information on Focus Groups

Can anyone give me some links to sign up for more focus groups? I did one Monday night for $125 and it was a fun experience and easy cash for 2 hours.

Thanks!

Information on Retailing Marketing???

I met this woman Monday night that says she goes into stores all over Atlanta and checks shelves, stocks product and makes sure certain products are displayed like they should be.

She told me it's like mystery shopping, that you sign up online and grab jobs. She also says there is more business out there than she can do and she "makes" her living doing this each month.

Is anyone familiar with this? It's new to me and I am intriqued. I gave her my email address and she said she would send me links but I haven't heard from her yet. She asked me something about "ARM?" and Vividence or Voilition?? I can't remember.

Any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks!

I hope you don't mind me combining all these threads together, Tracir. They all pretty much pertain to the same discussions we are having about these jobs in another forum. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

I'm just getting started doing these things, so I'm learning too. AG and twokidsinoneyear have been very helpful. Post your questions over there so we can all learn together.

Thanks Pandybat!

Could you please move my thread over to Frugal Living? I totally forgot about that section when I posted these. I appreciate you putting the posts together.

No problem, Tracir. There's lots of things to catch up on. I just looked and I think most the things you are looking for are found in those discussions. Good luck!
