| Hi Andersongal! I used to do some merchandising. I use to put up the smartsource machines in the supermarkets and set up displays in some drugstores. I would also get jobs for Amercian Express, Visa, etc. to put up signage in restaurants and retail stores. Sometimes the signage would be as simple as putting up the little stickers on the entrance door, so you know what kind of credit cards they accept. It was not a difficult job at all. It also didn't pay well...lol. Do you have any specific questions? I'm not sure if what I did is the same as what you are looking into. Let me know. ![]() Lori __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | No it isnt something he'll get rich off of. Looks like most of them pay $10-$12 and up an hour. He just isnt happy unless he's being productive. (NOTE: This does not include around the house where he use to be a big help and now it is like pulling teeth.) Guess I'm a bit like that myself. Oh well! Just wondered if the hours were flexible, worth the effort and so on. He did put in a call to one about a Sears to be serviced near us. Any info or insights would be great. Were they nice? Were they flexible? Did they pay on time? Can we do this as a team? Did you enjoy it? Is a planogram hard to figure out? Blah, blah, blah ![]() __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I get most of my merchandising jobs from the same companies I do demos for. The Narms website is another source I use. I live in a very small town so I have to travel a bit to even get to Wal-Mart but it seems as though we are there every other day, so I just do a couple jobs here and there. I figure it pays for my gas for the trip that I already had to make. I am not getting rich off of it by any means but with the 2 tots and 1 in school and DSS in high school I think I am keeping busy enough. I have recently picked up a few new companies. I ran a statewide search on the Narms site and then picked a few companies with 1-800 #s. I then called and asked if they ever had any jobs in my general location. I think I picked up 3 new companies that way. I don't think the plan-o-grams are very difficult to read. Especially the color good quality prints. Now I did have one the other day that had some fine print and it was a black and white copy so sometimes they can make you a little nervous. lol Oh, to share an idea of how I work in my jobs.... Last week I had an unusually great day, Mom kept the kids for free!!! I had an all day reset to do in a store @ $11.00/hour + a $15.00 bonus then when that was over I did an audit at a gas station, and then back to the original store for 2 more merchandising/audits. The gas station one will amount to about $14.00 and the 2 extra store ones total $30. I would have been home by 5:30 but I had some gift certificates(free) to Pizza Hut stowed away so I waited for a pizza to take home. Turned out I got a enough pizza that I brought some home to my Mom for keeping the kids. And to top it off the kids were actually glad to see me come in the door!!! That is a feeling a SAHM doesn't get to have very often!!! __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | This site has mystery shops, but there are also some listings for Brooks that are more merchandising assignments than shops. Might be worth checking it out... | $10-$12/hour is a lot better than what I was being paid. I was only paid $8/hour and reimbursed for mileage. That's why I finally gave it up. I had too much mess in my house [from the smartsource coupons] to justify only $8/hour. It was great pocket money though, and it got me out of the house. I had an infant at the time and really needed a break from time to time. It also didn't take up a lot of my time. You really don't have to deal too much with store personnel, because you don't work for them. They just sign whatever paperwork you need and pretty much leave you alone. That's the part I loved. No one to answer to really. Obviously, you have a boss, but I had very little contact there also...lol. There were some married couples who worked as a team, but I think it all depends on the company and if they would allow it. The planograms are funny...lol. Sometimes the instructions are horrible. Most of the time, the store personnel had already put the planogram together for me and I just needed to check stock. Now this is just my experience with this one company. I'm sure other companies would require you to put it together. If hubby wants to keep busy, but not be bogged down with too much, this might be ideal for him. It's great to get out of the house, do a little job, and not get bothered by a boss...lol. Of course, he will have to deal with customers thinking he works for the store. I used to get interrupted all the time, but I didn't mind. Sometimes, I would help them with whatever they needed...if I knew the store well enough.I took a glance at the links you posted a few weeks ago and might contact some of them....thanks! I recently had to quit my part-time job [which was the perfect job for me] and am pretty bummed out about it. It's a bit of a story, so that's for another thread....lol.
