Smile Sharing~ Extra Income (Links Included)

I have been keeping VERY busy between Mystery Shopping & Store Demo's.

With Mystery Shopping the pay may not always be that much but always look for the PERKS.

For example: DH will be doing a movie rental shop. Not only will they be paying him a small fee but we have free entertainment.
These shops will be appreciated in the winter when we want to curl up and watch a Just Released movie.

The Store Demos pay anywhere from $40, $50 on up.
If you enjoy people & don't mind being on your feet for 4 to 7 hours ~ your set. The Extra PERKS may include an outfit sent to wear to the demo.

For example: (don't laugh too hard now) This weekend I'll be sporting a new Disney T-Shirt and Mickey Mouse ears as I do a demo. LOL, good thing I have somewhat a sense of humor.
At other times it may be a new apron or GOD KNOWS WHAT.
After the event, they are yours to keep and do with what you want.

Another place to keep your eye open is your newspaper.
Often they will place an ad in a local paper in the area they need people.

Feel free to add any you have found or share your experiences.

I also enjoy doing the demos and merchandising work. Although I have done some pretty lame demos I haven't ever had to wear the Mickey ears.

I prefer the merchandising work over the demos due to the constant bickering and lacking personalities at my local store!! The merchandising work also works out better for me because of the two toddlers. I can usually get DH to watch the kids for a few minutes or sometimes even take them with me, but the demos for 6 hours require more of a headache to rely on DH to babysit. He always ends up with something planned or if he does keep them all day I usually regret it come 6:00 when I walk in the door!

If anyone has a use for aprons though they should get in on the demo work. I haven't found too many uses for them so far but UN flylady like I keep hanging on to them.

Thanks for the information, AG and twokids! I'm going to look into doing some of this in my area. I could always use the extra income but don't want something that is going to take up all my free time with my family. I have been looking for something part-time since my daughter got a little older. This just may be what I was looking for. Keep those links coming!

momto1~
Merchandising is the stocking/restocking or setting up display for a product such as Hallmark cards inside a store such as Wal-Mart.
This is just an example because it looks like there are numerous types out there. Like stocking the phamplets in a Doctors office and more. Hope that helps. I'm still learning about it all too.

OK...I'm sloooowly trying to get into this. I submitted a profile on the NARMS site last night and already got a reply. Only thing is, it's from a marine company wanting me to demonstrate boating products. It doesn't sound too hard, pays good and they are willing to train me but I am scared. I haven't worked for almost 5 years now and have never done anything like this. I worked up a resume last night and have it ready to go but now I need a cover letter. Working on that now. Did you guys have to do this too?

Man, I am almost sick thinking about doing this. I want to, my heart keeps telling me we could use the extra money and I could use the time away from the house but my mind keeps telling me what if I get into something I can't handle since I have been out of the workforce for so long. This is crazy! lol

Thank you guys for all the information. I would really like to do the merchandising more than the demos because I am more interested in details and organization than showing people how a fish finder works or handing out pieces of pizza in a grocery store...lol

Any other sites out there like NARMS?

Pandybat - If I'm remembering right, don't you live in or near Springfield, MO? If so, go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] They have a lot of burger shops in that area and the pay is good and fast.

I've been mystery shopping for about a year now and most of my information came from Volition. Go to their mystery shop list and start signing up for as many companies as you can. I do this part time and clear over $500 a month!

Pandy~

I was scared at first too.
But then I think
"It's SHOWTIME!"

No place could be a rougher audience than NE.
So, it could be worse for you.

It's downright FUN!
You could give it a try and if it doesnt work out, it doesnt work out. No BIGGIE! You tried.
If it works out for you then you have an extra income, fun while your doing it, the ability to accept or turn down work as you wish and there are always *perks*.

Let me know what you decide but dont feel inhibited because you have been out of work for 5 years. Just think how it would feel if you waited another 5 or more.

~Be like AG and say "WTH, I'll try it."

Cool! Thanks Jilly! Looks like a good place.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, AG. I guess I'm just worried about doing all this online with resumes and cover letters, etc more than anything. I prefer to meet with people and start jobs face to face....lol This is going to be weird but I think I can do it.

I have never met any that I work for face to face either.
But, you get to know each other over the phone and I don't mind anymore.

Hey, you know us and it's all been online and not much face to face. Hmmmm......maybe that wasnt the best thing to say.
