I'm going to Dallas on the 18th for the MSPA Gold seminar so I'll be getting to meet a lot of the schedulers and a bunch of other shoppers from around the country. I'm pretty nervous right now because it has been so anonymous up to this point. I've only talk to one scheduler the whole time I've been doing this so meeting face to face is a little nerve racking!

I have a question. I have been mystery shopping for a company since January and was told I did not need to supply my social security # if I didnt plan on making over $600. Well I have not reached that level yet but now they will not let me log in without providing my social security #. So my question is how do you report this income on your federal tax forms? And do you deduct gas mileage ect on business expense form? I was hoping I could avoid all this but looks like if I want to keep doing it I will have to report it. How do you all go about doing this?

Yes, you will need to report your income. Well, I have an accountant handle all of this but....... as an IC I receive so much for mileage. So I keep track of what day's I work and where. Mostly two locations so that's not hard. Yet my clothing is not deductable. I keep my pay stubs plus my paperwork with date and Confirmation Number witten on them as back up info. There are places on the web with more tax info for IC's (Independent Contractors). Maybe this will help. [Only registered and activated users can see links. It's CRAZY!!!! When I'm not doing demo's I'm a Spokesmodel. All that means is I get paid twice as much. I had a crazy idea that when I became a Spokesmodel that Football Players & Rock Stars would be beating down my door. lol Of course SO MUCH MORE has been going on............ So, anyone else working their buns off this way?????? PS~ Those pop ups have got to go too.

I have taken on several new tasks lately and by the time I get done with the paperwork at home I think they need to pay a bit more! My DH threatened to stop off at the bar tonight since I'm never available, even when I am at home, because I am doing paperwork or something job related. I have found the project pay is much better than the hourly pay on most of my jobs. My demos mostly pay $8 an hour and they are starting to require more and more. The merchandising usually pays $10/hr sometimes $8 or $12. Just this week I did two 30 minute jobs at the store then came home to call them in only to find that the system wouldn't accept my info. Then I had to call my supervisor and he three-way called the IVR system. Still didn't work so I had to email him the answers. All this and each job was only alloted 30 minutes which I spent in the store. After complaining the boss pays me for an extra 30 minutes so I ended up with $15.00 before takes, for an hour of instore time, 30 miles of driving, 4 phone calls and 2 emails. That isn't worth the trouble! Plus they sent me two big manuals to deal with at home. Anyone have ideas on how to get these companies to pay more? |

Re: Sharing~ Extra Income (Links Included) (Thanks for the email Deb) Here is the link where you gals can sign up to be a Spokesmodel and more. There is no charge and I have hooked up with an agency that pays 2 to 3 times more than most. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] There is no charge and you can choose what you would like to do. You never "have" to accept an assignment. This makes it great for when we have plans to be out of town. If you have any questions once you get going...... feel free to contact me.

Re: Sharing~ Extra Income (Links Included) As a spokesmodel, what exactly do you have to do? First time I have ever heard of this. I tried to search on the link that you gave but I still am unclear on what exactly you do. Just got started in to MS about 3 months ago. Not real impressed with some of it, but guess you have to take the good with the bad. Thanks for the info.
