Exclamation Help.....Urine Smell

I have used about 4 different things to mop my bathroom floor. But with my 3 year old son missingthe toilet at times, I just can't get rid of the urine smell. What can I do? It seems that maybe it's just soaked into the linoleum??

Is the linoleum on top of wood?
If so, it may have soaked into that.
About the only thing (that I know of) you could do is tear up the linoleum and clean & seal the wood underneath.

Sorry, I'm not much help.

You might want to try a pet odor remover. The best I've found is Natures Miracle stain and odor remover. It uses enzymes to remove the odor. It says safe on all water safe surface. Might be worth a try.
You can check it out here:

Natures Miracle is the best!! I saw the post above had that and that is what I was going to recommend too. It's kind of pricey but it does work. They even guarantee their product!! Good Luck!!

On floors I have had good luck with peroxide - the kind from the pharmacy or grocery store. Just pour it on a section, let it bubble, work it in with a spatula and wipe up with a paper towel. Keep doing this until you can pour some down and it doesn't bubble on contact. This got cat pee (the worst) out of the wooden sub floor of a house we had just bought - it also worked on the wall the cat seemed to like. 3 gallons of peroxide and 2 cases of paper towels was way less than the $3,000 a contractor quoted me to replace the floor.

Other possibility is the shower curtain. I was cleaning my parents house after they went to a nursing hopme and could not get rid of the outhouse odor. Discovered that the shower curtain, which was directly next to the toilet, reeked of urine. Dad was aiming but just getting in the general area, sort of like your son. Good luck - it's just one of those guy things

Ok here's what has solved it so far:

Right behind the toilet I have one of those wooden stands to hold things, well as I was mopping again today I noticed that the wood on the bottom was warped from ? water? urine? Anyhow, I removed those legs of the shelf and so far so good. After another good mop job I think my bathroom problems might be solved. I also changed the soft toilet seat to a hard one.

Thanks all!!

MirandaS30 has great potential
I'm glad you got the problem fixed, I too have the same problem with my boy that just turned 5 this week.

We have tile with grout, that I guess the grouth hasn't been sealed, so I sealed it and it still doesn't help. I clean my floors with bleach when I'm cleaning, it works for a while, but then he misses and within a week I have to clean it again.

We are having a home built and are going to be moving in February and I INSISTED on having vinyl, I think this will help a lot!!! atleast I hope DH was NoT happy with this at all, but there is no way I'm going to have 2 little boys in the house peeing on the floors, me not being able to clean it good enough, and it smelling!!! EWWW

I bought some of this stuff as well. My kitty decided he needed to mark the carpet (which he never ever does) so I went to Petsmart and bought some along with the blacklight that is recommended. My cat has never been back to that spot and the blacklight shows no sign of a stain or odor left from his little accident.

OMG-I thought I was the only one. We also had those kids' seats that attach to the toilet...they are called Flip n Flush, and I got them from One Step Ahead. I could never seem to get the urine smell to go away, and I thought it might be coming from that. There is a plastic bar that attaches to the seat and the back of the toilet. Well, I made hubby take them off, and sure enough...nasty!! I think the smell is starting to fade. LOL...I was going to post in the general chat asking how to keep the kids from "missing"!!! I am to the point now where I completely spray the bathroom with Lysol and leave it for awhile before I even start cleaning.

You have to clean around the toilet everyday. That's the only thing that works. Been there, done that.
