OH...the dishes

Hey there! So I'm moving into a new place and my roommates and I were looking for some cheap dishes. I'm not really one for spending a lot of time in the kitchen, so I wanted something I could easily throw into the microwave and the dishwasher, wherever. : ) Anyways, I work for Corelle and found out about a great deal on a 20-piece set of Corelle dishes at Wal-Mart...they're offering like a $4 rebate off of 1 set or $10 off 2 sets. Its normally only like $30 for 20-pieces - and its even better with the rebate. Hee hee...we were happy with that. (oh you can print out the rebates at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now])

Actually it turns out that my mom had some old Corelle dishes stored away...not nearly as cool as our new ones though!

Smile Warning: Sometimes I Ramble

My first set of dishes were Corelle.
Glad you like them, they should last you for quite awhile.

hmmm.......
Unless......
When they first came out they advertised them as unbreakable.
A big deal back then.
So, my dad bought my mom a set as soon as they came out.
Then, we had my aunt and uncle over.....my father pretended to get all mad at my mom and picked up a dish and smashed it on the floor. It must have hit just right because it broke into serval pieces. My poor dad had his joke go wrong, my aunt & uncle were wondering what was going on. I guess I came from a strage family because we laughed about that for years.

Guess you had to be there.

Welcome LM!

Re: OH...the dishes

Hi,

I still have an old set of Corelle dishes that we use everyday, and we love them. I guess we're lucky none have broken as we've (by mistake) dropped them before I cook a lot so they really get lots of use. No complaints about Corelle! Have fun in your new place

Re: OH...the dishes

I have figured out that Corelle does not break it shatters and when it does so it gets dangerous however they are cheap, cool quickly, light, and above all you can do almost anything to them just don't put one on the stove.

Re: OH...the dishes

I love those dishes. I usually find mine at our local thrift store for about $.25 per plate. I am a thrift store junkie. They last forever. I cannot tell you how many times I have dropped them and they just do a sorta bounce on the ground and stay in one piece, not even a chip.
