| Came across a site with many rice recipes, thought I would share. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] I like to make rice pudding (without raisins ) myself. And, if you want to liven up your rice pudding you can add a touch of flavored coffee's. Anyone have a great rice recipe they want to share? __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I would love suggestions. I like flavored rice but I don't like it plain.

| When my mom had leftover white rice (sticky, oriental kind), she would sometimes treat us the next morning with a bowl for breakfast ... heated, with a little milk, butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Since she hardly made anything sweet for us, it was a nice treat. Also, there is a product you can buy in Japanese markets called Furukake (spelling?). It's a flavored, dry topping (either in a small plastic package or a small glass jar) for white rice, especially loved by children, and our favorite kind is heavy on the dried egg flavor, but not the fish flavored kind. Of course, soy sauce is a must for flavoring plain rice. One of our favorite uses for white rice is to serve homemade Hamburger Stroganoff over it. So fast and easy and such a comfort food! Good old Betty Crocker cookbooks! __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. | A rice dish I ate in Spain was white rice with tomato/spaghetti sauce poured over and a fried egg on top. Easy to make!My kids like the frozen Banquet pot pies over rice. You can use cold rice with mayo to create a cold salad. Dh makes yummy fried rice once in a while. I'm not very good at it...I rarely like it if I make it... Instead of Soy sauce, try Maggi Seasoning. Similar, but better! (comes in a similar bottle with a yellow label.)I think the rice mixes are fine to use, but I just use regular rice. You can flavor it by adding a quarter of a green pepper to the water/rice or using chicken broth with or instead of water. I also just pour the meat juices over the rice for a nice flavor. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I love rice pudding, it's one of my favorites. How 'bout tapioca pudding. Love that too. Rice pudding with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top, that's all it needs. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | Cumin Rice 3 tablespoons oil chopped mild banana peppers (to taste) chopped onions (to taste) (or onion powder) 1 clove garlic, chopped (or the garlic powder equivilent) 1 cup uncooked rice (not minute rice) 3/4 teaspoon cumin 2 teaspoons chicken broth granules 2 cups boiling water Heat oil in ovenproof casserole or skillet. Add pepper, onion, garlic and rice. Cook until rice is lightly browned and onion is limp. Add cumin, chicken granules and boiling water. Cover tightly, bake at 350F for thirty minutes, or until all liquid is absorbed. If it ends up a little too bland for your taste, try adding some garlic salt for a little extra oomph! It might take a couple trys before you get the taste just right, but keep at it...this is SO good! __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | My fave is something I slopped together while I was on internship ... instant rice chicken broth can of cream of chicken soup can of diced tomatoes and onions one chicken breast, diced one green pepper Cook the chicken breast - works best to dice it up while it's still a bit frozen. Cook the instant rice in the chicken broth. Mix everthing together and heat through. Can feed one person, can feed an army __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links.
