| This is really cheap to make and really does the job. Ant Killer Recipe 1 teaspoon boric Acid (you can get this at Wal Mart) 6 tablespoons sugar 2 cups hot water (this water must be really hot) Mix ingredients and pour over cotton balls (cotton out of med's bottles works too) Put mixture in cottage cheese containers with lids and poke holes about 1/8 inch up from the bottom. Don't worry if you have more ants the first couple of days after third day ant problem should be gone. BE SURE TO PUT THIS WHERE CHILDREN OR PETS CANNOT GET INTO IT. this stuff really does work. __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I have heard of a similar ant killer. You use the same container but instead of boric acid and sugar you use bleach and sugar. I guess the effect is the same.

I was wondering, wouldn't grit just do the trick? An ant's body is made almost entirely of water. Grits are food that soak up water. When an ant eats these grits, his body gets all the water soaked up out of his little body and dies. |

| Re: Homemade Ant killer i haven't gotten around to getting trying the bleach and sugar yet but the windex is working great! i keep spraying them and they stop right in their tracks and it keeps them gone for a little while. Great tip on that one. Thanks Karen

| Hi, If you don't actually want to kill them but just want them to go away; you can always use peppermint essential oil mixed w/water in a spray bottle. Fill a spray bottle (16 oz or so) with water and add a tablespoon of peppermint essential oil to it and spray away. Ants hate peppermint and there's none stronger than the essential oil. "Note - this doesn't work on fire ants, but I never found anything that did!" Kat ![]() |
