Looking for cheap trail mix/snack mix ideas

We have started buying everything separate and mixing it. Is this the best way? What do you use that may be on the cheaper side? To give you an idea of what we just bought: peanuts, cashews, pineapple, cranberries, bananas,almonds, and raisins. I added some coconut to a small amount, but I don't know if that will store properly. This averaged out to $2 lb. Where can I buy these things cheap?

My grocery store sells this type of thing for $2.99 lb. We have bought some at Costco, too, but I don't recall if it was a good price and there were things in there that noone liked very much.

I would be interested in any ideas you have for different mixes. Thanks!

Coconut

Well, if I see some deals, then I buy on sale, but there is no one place I shop for those ingredients, always getting good prices.

As far as the M&M's go, CVS, Stop & Shop, and some other places often have 3/$1 or 4/$1 on reg. size packets of M&M's. So I'd buy them then.

As far as the other items, I always buy the generic brand (unless I have a coupon for any item, making it cheaper than the generic).

I don't know if you have a dehydrater or not. I don't, but my grandmother does. I buy the bananas when they are really cheap because they are starting to brown (some places they are $1 for a big bag). Then, I dehydrate them at her house.
