Losing Enthusiasm--Not Getting My Freebies

Hi I'm a daily visitor to this board. I'm discouraged, not getting my freebies. Have received maybe 10% of them. I follow all rules. What do you think? Barb aka jalapenomama

I know what you mean. I've been at this game for three years. I had more luck getting a higher percentage of freebies I requested in the beginning. I'm guessing there are more freebie "hunters" now. I feel like I need to be online almost every minute so as to not miss out. Just adopt my motto, "Win some, Lose some." Also keep in mind some freebies take a real long time to get. My best example was a sample of Pam I ordered in May 1999 (right before I moved). I got it in June 2000 (it was forwarded from my old address). I wish you better luck.

i'm having the same problems! i order probably 10-20 samples a day and for the past two weeks my post man has brought me absoultely nothing! not one item! i think he's a theif! lol, but seriously i share opinions with kitkittykat. there are more freebie hunters out there so that is less freebies to go around, or at least it will take a lot longer. just hang in there! we should get them sooner or later!

Though I don't keep track of the number of freebies I request, I would guesstimate I receive about 20 percent. They come in dribs and drabs. Yesterday I received about 7 of them, today none!

i get about 5 to 10% of what i sign up for.i think that some of them do not come because i do not match their target, i have gotten e-mails saying that they are sorry but they have run out or that the offer was limited to those refered by someone on their mailing list ect.i also think some grow legs in the mail and wonder off to someone s home not mine.my mailman came to me once about a bag of coffee that was for me that was sitting in his sorted box that walked off while he was sorting the next box.he offered to buy me a new bag but i told him no thanks it was a freebie.he is a nice guy.

It IS ODD. I get tons of freebies all the time. my neighbor got one in 7 mos. The only thing I can figure is I am signing up for just about anything and everything. I also NEVER use my phone number, having enlisted a fake one, that has the same a/c and first 3 digits. (once i called the fake # i use just to test it and a nice lady answered.) at any rate, hang in there, pick the one's that interest you and sign up. i've been giving the freebies to my sad neighbor that i don't want and she wants so at least she's getting some of them!

Jalapenomama........don't be discouraged...I was getting that way too, not really receiving much either. THEN......last week...on the first 2 days that my father was here to visit my children and I, I rec'd so MUCH stuff!!!!! My father was so impressed!! I even got my VIOXX herbal pillow that I use constantly!! At first VIOXX just sent me some literature...and I was really upset!!SOOOO happy to get the pillow from them!!! I opened one package in front of my dad, and out fell a condom!!!!!He and I both turned all shades of red!!!!
I have only been doing the freebie thing for about 7 weeks...I only really used DOD for the regular $$$$$$$ of deals...but learned about the freebie forum when I was out of work for 3 months. Now I have 2 jobs and try to send off for at least 5 freebies per day. They will, for the most part, eventually get to your mailbox. DON'T GIVE UP HOPE!!!

Don't give up - it seems to take a little time for them to start showing up. I make sure to read the "Freebies I Recieved Today" thread (there's a new one each day) so I can see what should be arriving over the next week (I live out in the middle of nowhere, so my mail always takes longer).

A few tips to help your stuff find it's way to you:

- Always spell everything out (ie, use Fourth Avenue not 4th Ave)

- Use your zip + 4 code (you can look it up on the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

- Don't forget to add your CORRECT phone number & email. If you don't want to use your home phone, you can get a free phone number for messages at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]. Please don't use someone else's phone number - we had someone use ours & finally tracked them down after months of annoying & harrassing phone calls. Let's just say that my husband was not too nice when he confronted this guy...


I figure if something is totally free & shows up then I'm happy. If it's something I really want, then I'll bother to write it down & will email if it doesn't show up (especially if someone else posts that they got it). I know it's annoying when things don't show up, but I've had some surprise packages show up a year after I ordered them.

i thought everyone must be getting as many freebies as me!!!! all the people i work with are amazed at the stuff i get, and they love the free tee-shirts--i usually give those away! some have even started hunting for freebies themselves....i'm feeling kinda guilty now, because i give a fake number too....hope someone isnt too mad if they're getting tons of call for me....its a cell phone number too! ok...now i feel really bad, gonna give them my correct number from now on....happy thanksgiving, you guys!

I joined at about the time you did, and the freebies have just recently started coming in heavy. I sign up for everything I qualify for and use real numbers, but avoid giving phone whenever possible. I usually get about 7-8 things on Monday and 1-3 every other mail day. Hang in there. Sign up for everything that you qualify for. And have fun here at DOD. The folks here are great.

I can relate to how you feel! But...things really do come! It's a waiting game as far as I'm concerned. It's also somewhat of a challenge if you think about it. But all and all it's really for fun and you should consider it to be for entertainment only and not take it so seriously!

Hang in there, I have been doing this for a while and it took several months for the stuff to start rolling in and now I get something every single day. Sample, coupon or gift. Always something. You don't list a P O box for delivery do you? Most companies will not send anything to a P O box. Just a thought....

Deffinitly don't give up hope. I think we have all gone thru that "in the beginning dry spell"...heck some of us (ME) still go thru it now and then.
If I ever give a "fake" #, I change just the area code and use my true other 7 digits, this way, noone will get any phonecalls. The call won't be completed using my 3 digit exchange. I also use my Ureach account for the phone and fax number.
Remember if you stop sending for freebies for periods of times, you can count on having an empty mail box now and then. I can almost tell you when I wasn't on the puter from mine..lol! It's a constant cycle. I think I get almost 1/2 if not more, of the freebies I request.

I hardly get any of the freebies I request, but then when I get discouraged, something great comes in- Like a hair sample from England.. I was sure surprised with that one.. I get more catalogs now than anything, but dont get too discouraged. As the saying goes.. Good things come to those who wait They will show up
