I had this posted on the ideas and comments section, but no one was looking at it so I'm posting it here as well:

When I think of freebies I think of tangable objects, or things which I would normall pay for, but can get for no price. Things like soap and phone cards. It seems to me that there have been a lot of links in the freebie forum concerning free information web sites. Is it just me, or should these links be there? Free information is great, but I start to get flustered when the links I click are just free info. bumping the tangable stuff off to other pages. The board seems to be becoming more of a favorites section than an actual freebie board. Posting information links can be done elsewhere, but on a freebie board it seems like I could just post my web site and say "hey, all the information on my web site is free, so it's a freebie, check it out". Anyone else agree?

Question Perhaps there should be a new forum for this type of thing?

I agree that I like to see 'stuff' here, not more links. Sometimes it seems to be the only place to put it, though. Perhaps we need another forum? Mods, what do you think?

i'm with you...

and while we're at it, what about doing away w/ "help me find a deal"? let's face it, "i'net and retail deals" gets the most traffic, and many people post requests for help there, knowing they're more likely to be seen. it's a direct subtopic of i. and r. deals and i've been thinking for awhile that combining the two would make good sense. and maybe a "favorites" forum for the kind of links madclikr's referring to would work well. just my two cents!

I think a "Favorites" section, or something like "Great Finds on the WWW" or something like one of those would be great. Some of the links are really interesting, but they don't really seem to belong in any of the forums currently here.

As long as each subject is clearly defined, I don't see the problem here. If you don't like the post, move on, seems simple enough. I would appreciate knowing in the subject line exactly what the offer is, a real item or a download, etc. But other than that, I think those posts are fine.
By the way, I dearly love the religious posts, I have gotten so many nice things that way. Again, spell it out clearly in the subject line and that should erase any confusion or inconvienence.

Rolling eyes

Have to agree with MadClikr on this one. It is kind of frustrating when I click for a freebie and it's all downloading. I always thought shareware and freebies were two different concepts. Anyone agree?

And SweetCindy gets my vote too. I myself don't send for religious books or tapes or things like that, but I do have friends and relatives that enjoy those same freebies.

Good Show to all the freebie posters!!! Thanks!

Talking Addendum...

I have to agree with Sweet Cindy about the religious posts. I do love to get the religious freebies. The books are great additions to my religion library; the miscellaneous religious freebies are great stocking stuffers for family, or just bonuses for me! Keep them coming!

I agree with MadClikr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a freebie board for freebies not to advertise other sites or information........that should be in another area.

Also coloring pages and other downloads and shareware should not be here. Strictly free items and gift Certificates should be here. (gift certificates get you free items) There should not be S&H or SASE items, thats not free!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is hard going thru here finding free stuff in the midst of this other info. And religious stuff should be here as long as it gives you a free item not info.

Hugs

Big grin

I agree with Bugs that I find the downloads and shareware, etc. are annoying. Mainly because it seems lately that they push a lot of the "real" freebies down the board so fast. As for the religious posts, they are easy enough to ignore as long as they too, are "real" freebies. Y'all have a nice day now, ya hear?

Bugs -

There should never, ever be anything in this forum that costs money - S/H fees, SASE, non-toll free calls, even trips to the store all fall under this category. The rules of this forum are very clear on this subject - all posts should be for 100% free items! This means that everything you find in this forum you should be able to either send for with a form on the website, email or call a toll free number.

If you find any posts which violate this, please feel free to email me or any other moderator & we will move the post to the correct forum.

BTW, I also think there should be a better place for "free webspace", "free information", etc. but as of now, we don't really have a forum dedicated to this so the freebie forum is the best place for them. In the past, we didn't have too many of those types of posts - I don't know why there are more now... However, I do think the free downloads belong here - especially the ones for holiday gift tags, coloring pages, etc - they have saved me loads of money!

Angry

i agree with the person who said the freedie board should be for tangible freebies NOT free web pages or info. I can get that anywhere. After all isn't that the actual intention of the freebie board ?

& My Two Cents is...

like what Cindy said...make the posts clear so we know what everything is, and the religious stuff is fine but there has been a couple of times I checked the board to find a lot religious stuff listed. I can see if you are not into that, you might get agitated with it, but then you should just ignore it and move on to the next post. The religious freebies have just as much right to be in this forum as do soap, shampoo, etc as long as it's a freebie!

Thumbs up Freebie downloads, email and all the rest.

I like the free downloads and finds posted here. They can be just as great a freebie as some of the *tangeable* items. I also appreciate the ones who posts these finds. They belong right here in the freebie forum as much as anything else.

Think this should have been in the compliment and complaint forum shouldnt it?
