low-cal snacks?

Hey all...Wondering what everyone uses to satisfy a sweet tooth? I have a couple of weaknesses - candy and chocolate! I usually like to bring a snack with me to work with lunch so I don't run downstairs and buy out all the snickers Hostess just came out with these 100 calorie packs - three mini cupcakes that are heavenly Has anyone tried them? I absolutely LOVE them!

Re: low-cal snacks?

All I eat is Low Calorie Foods

Weight Watchers Muffins are pretty good the Chocolate are awesome if you just nuke em for 5 seconds (kinda like a warm brownie) I think they are around 80 calories. The Blueberry are pretty yum too but are higher in calories. If you like Blueberry muffins though and ever look at the calorie content on others you will nearly die of shock!

Quaker Breakfast Bars & Bites The 25% less sugar kind (I prefer the Apple Crisp) but Strawberry is good too. Those are 130 calories.

Arizona Diet Iced Green Tea Sometimes you get sick of water and Diet sodas can make you bloat. Green Tea naturally speeds your metabolism helping you diet! 0 Calories

Smart Ones also makes great lil frozen desserts! My fav is Strawberry Shortcake. I think they are about 150-170 calories.

And instead of chips try ziplock bags full of dry cereal to snack on. Most are about 120 calories for 1/2 a cup. Even the sweeter kinds.

Well thats all I have off the top of my head oddly..sure more will come to me!

I also love light yogurt, low-fat cottage cheese w/ a spoonful of preserves or apple butter, peanut butter on celery or peanut butter on apples (not so low-cal, but you've gotta get your protein!), banana shakes (freeze sliced banana, then pop it into the blender with ice cubes & skim milk!).

Yum - those banana shakes sound delicious!!! I'm also a sucker for frozen grapes!!

The Hostess packs come in three flavors - chocolate, carrot cake & golden yellow cake with chocolate icing. I love all three, I have to admit. So perfect to just throw in my lunch on the way to work.

Re: low-cal snacks?

The new Fiber One bars are really good. I like the chocolate & oats, they also come in peanut butter. They are very filling, with 9 grams of fiber in each one.

Re: low-cal snacks?

I also love the Fiber One bars. They contain 9 grams of fiber per bar, and they really taste like a candy bar (better if you ask me).

I also love any of the 100 calorie packs. I really haven't had a bad one.

The 90 calorie mini rice cakes are good too! I've tried the cinnimon strusel flavor before, but they also have a chocolate flavor that I've heard is really good.

If you are interested in the 100/90 calorie packs, I find they are the cheapest at Target or Walmart and they have the best selection.

Thanks for the tip, Balletrina! I'll definitely check those places out - I am such a sucker for the 100 calorie packs because they're just so convenient (and the Hostess ones are my favorite out of the bunch). Getting back into a diet/exercise plan, too, so this should fit in easily.

Re: low-cal snacks?

I found that using most of the low cal stuff didn't help me out. It was always an addition to whatever else I ate. I found that eating fruit with peanut butter helped with my sweet cravings, and the protein in the peanut butter helps to satiate me for a while. Try apples or grapes with Adam's PB (there's no sugar in it). I lost about 40lbs and kept it off for a year now. If you are really looking to lose weight, try to stay away from the packaged stuff (I know it's hard). It gets easier with time, and it can really pay off. Once you've done really well for a while, you can have something "bad" once in a while without completely falling off the wagon. If you really want some occasional package stuff, try premier protein bars. They have some chocolate flavors. They have a pretty high protein count compared to some others, and they taste good... I only eat about a third to a half of one at a time with some water and it tides me over for a while.
