water therapy

I have been testing out an idea that drinking more water, improves your health.
I intended to experiment on myself and partner by drinking two litres of still bottled drinking water per day for a week, on top of what we normally drink and adding a little lemon juice to each drink.
I knew my partner did not drink enough water, she starts work at 8am, and returns home by 4pm, and during that time only has one cup of tea. Often she feels very tired and will also complain of a headache.
I started the experiment and by 10am I had drunk two glasses of water. The first thing I noticed apart from having to visit the toilet was that my energy levels had increased.
By early afternoon I noticed my moral was better, I had an urge to do more, my conversation had got better, and I felt quite witty and humorous, and even quite happy. In fact I felt quite "hipped up", as if I had taken a drug.
I thought that perhaps it was just what I had eaten on this day, however the next day I felt the same way, much better.
My partner also agreed that she had felt much better, and did not feel tired.

There is no doubt in my mind that drinking two litres of water extra on what I normally drink per day has health benefits. I know that it enhances mood, and increases energy levels. What I would like to know is what effect it has on my body organs, blood ect.

Re: water therapy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Water therapy is the use of water to improve health.

According to alternative medicine advocates, one form of water therapy is the consuming of a gutful of water upon waking in order to "cleanse the bowel". A litre to a litre and half is the common amount ingested. This water therapy, also known as Indian or Chinese Water Therapy, is claimed to have a wide range of health benefits; or at least no adverse effects. While ingesting about a litre and a half of water is usually harmless, this is approaching the level which can lead to water intoxication, an urgent and dangerous medical condition. Advocates of water therapy claim that application of water therapy at first will cause multiple bowel movements until the body adjusts to the increased amount of fluid.

Re: water therapy

I am a water drinker myself because I easily sweat so I tend to drink water from time to time. The only draw back is the fequent trip to the comfort room but atleast I don't wake up in the middle of the night rushing to the toilet to pee

Re: water therapy

I've been drinking almost 2 gallons of water a day for a couple of years.Everyone that knows me always makes remarks of some kind.I was diagnosed with type2 diabetes in 2004,until a couple of years ago I never needed water like i do now!Not sure if drinking so much water had a diiferent effect on me,except if I don't keep drinking the water I get extremly thirsty & can't seem to cope that well, not sure if it could be diabetes insipidus "sp"?also called water diabetes.Other than me.I've always heard of the good benefits of drinking water, its our universal fluid,we need it.Also I did hear on the news about a couple of different cases were two people died because of water intoxifacation! One was contest & i think the other was in a college hazing,I never knew
someone could die from this!Just because my body has been handleing so much water does not mean the next persons body could!!

Re: water therapy

Drinking water is always good. But yeah, the only thing I hate about it is the constant rush to the restroom to pee!

I agree, water is good for the health but you'll always go to cr to pee.

Re: water therapy

I also do drinks lots of water. like 8-12 glasses a day. I hit the gym almost every time so I really need to replenish the amount of water that has been lost. Fruits also is a good combination.

Re: water therapy

Never knew about water therapy having bad effects unless I came through this article...

"One possible danger of water therapy is the unregulated intake of water. Our body has a natural mechanism of getting rid of excess water. If you take in more water than you could get out, then you are risking a possible fatal condition called hyperhydration or water poisoning. This could result into conditions such as heart failure, stroke or brain damage.

When you reach the point that your body can’t balance out your fluid levels, you are also disrupting the balance of electrolytes. This is why sports drinks contain minerals such as salt to replenish electrolytes that are lost through physical activity."

Re: water therapy

A well-hydrated person has clear, healthy, glowing skin. It helps in the detoxification and cleansing of the skin by getting rid of impurities and toxins inside the body. It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.
