Anti-Vert is a godsend. My mom, both my sisters and I have been hit with dizzy spells. seems the older we get (and I'm the youngest) the more they hit. We've all been told it's something to do with the inner ear - and they prescribe the anti-vert. My mom get's hit with it at least 2 times per year. It's been a bit for me. I also have had a history of low blood pressure which also can cause it. Hopefully the Anti-vert will help and in a week he'll start feeling better (i.e. not feeling like he's gonna splat on the floor the minute he moves his head too quick). Good luck and keep us posted on how he's doing.

I didn't know that, that low blood pressure could cause that dizziness too. Mine has always been pretty low.

yep....blood pressure can cause lots of things.

I called the office today and got his bloodwork results and it seems everything looked ok.........his cholesterol was a little high though....it was 237.

He is still with the dizzy spells. I hope this anti-vert helps. It will be tricky to get him to take it like he should. Wish me luck in getting it down him like it says! lol ;)

Just a suggestion....make him things with fruit in them...for example...applesauce cake, or a pie or something like that.

That is a good idea except he won't eat anything with anything like that in it. 8\

I can get him to eat an apple or banana occassionally but he just isn't a fruit person and as for veggies........no way , no how!! ;)

He likes his meat and bread and sweets. 8o

I for one could live on fruits and veggies but not him. When I cook I always have to make sure that it is something he will eat in addition to what I want the kids to eat. 8\

From what I've read, your dh has many factors that could cause the dizziness....stress, inner ear infection, high or low blood pressure, and high or low sugar.....
Stress is a big factor in dizziness...and can lead to stroke if not taken care of.
Inner ear infections are terrible...been there, done that..heck, my dh even had to pick me up off the floor one day because of it. It effects the balance in your head, so that in turn effects the rest of your body.
The high/low blood pressure has a lot to do with stress...learn to handle one, and the other usually gets better. Hey, I'm preaching here, but am dealing with high pressure myself. ;)
I don't know about high sugar, really, but from experience with low sugar, I know when I start feeling dizzy, if I eat a little something, it helps.
One thing I learned not long ago was that onions are very high in sugars....something most people don't realize because of the way they taste.
Another thing, if your body gets too low on salt, you will become dizzy. I have to litterally eat a little salt every now and then to help me.
Hope your hubby gets to feeling like himself again soon!!!

Chocolate Applesauce Cake presented by The Grey Whale Inn
Blue Ribbon Winner, 1983 Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Sift together:
3 cups flour
3 Tbs cocoa
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon

Cream:
3/4 cups shortening (I prefer butter flavored Crisco)
2 cups sugar

Mix:
2-1/4 tsp baking soda with 22-24 oz. applesauce until soda is dissolved.

Combine above ingredients and mix thoroughly with electric mixer.

Beat in:
3 large eggs

Pour into greased & floured 12-cup tube pan.

Sprinkle with:
2 Tbs granulated sugar combined with 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts (Best done with food processor). Pat lightly with back of spoon.

Bake for 60-65 minutes, or til cake test done. Let rest in pan for 20 minutes before turning out onto rack. Cover and refrigerate when cool. Slice when it is cold. Bring to room temperature before serving. 20 servings.

Some personal notes. This cake freezes well, so I make two cakes at once. Canned applesauce comes in various sizes, but I use 43-46 oz. size, dependent upon what is available.
