Is it green??? The only thing that cleared my pool up at the beginning of the year was a 60% Algae solution(I got it at wal-mart) and a dose of Super Shock.

That honestly cleared it right up after many, many hours and alot of money down the tubes(don't buy that 10% Algae stuff its worthless)

I buy this stuff call clear blue, it cost $7.00 for a quart. I put about 1 cup in the pool and it gets rid of the alge and clears up the cloudy pool in about 2 hours. I also recommend cleaning your filter once a month. good luck

How big is your pool?

Common household products that some people use are chlorine bleach, vinegar, and baking soda. If your pool is over 5000 gallons, you'd be better off getting pool chemicals. Just my opinion, but with pool chemicals, you get what you pay for. And it has been my experience that trying to go the cheapest route has usually ended up costing me more than if I had forked over the big bucks the first go around :(

Julie there is a really cool chemical for pools called SUSTAIN>>>>>it works wonders...with using a little of it each week, We never have to shock our pool!!!!
Once it looked terrible and we added that stuff to the pool and overnight without doing anything else it was so clear we could not believe!!!!!!
Since then we use it.

Julie, if you have a pool store around you (one that exclusively sells chemicals and stuff) bring in a sample of your water to them, and they will tell you what your pool needs. Sometimes if the chemicals are off, it will go green fast

Re: swimming pool

Can you please tell me what the chemical (SUSTAIN) is used for? Agae? or just a cloudy pool? and where and how much does it run? These products are eating a whole in my pocket. I didn,t cover my above ground pool and now its green on bottom. i just emptied the sand filter and purchased new filter sand. Last year it was a disaster and i stayed out there cleaning algae up . can anyone also tell me what is a great strong chemical that PROFESSIONALS use that will eat that algae up and give it a squeeky clean feeling on the bottom. Ive done the shock and algaeside and the clear blue. I need strong stuff,I have a plastic Liner, and its a 25,000 gallon pool. Thanks, Wendy of Georgia
