What is a Mystery Guest?

A Mystery Guest is someone who visits Jack in the Box® restaurants for the purpose of evaluating product quality, service, speed of service and cleanliness. Mystery Guests pose as typical fast food customers, then complete a written report after they leave the restaurant.

Mystery Guests act as the eyes and ears of the restaurant managers, and help the managers with their training programs and the service they give to their guests, all from a guest's point of view.


Why should I become a Mystery Guest?

Being a Mystery Guest is a very exciting and easy way to make a little extra money. It is also your opportunity to give helpful and constructive feedback to Jack in the Box® restaurants.


Do I have to buy anything?

Yes, you are required to purchase the food that your supervisor asks you to order. Not only do you get to eat it, but we will reimburse you for it in full. Can it get any better than this?


How do I get assignments?

Once you have completed the initial interview and have been hired, you will attend a paid training session. Once the training has been successfully completed, you will receive a list of assignments from your supervisor.


Do the reports have to be done at a specific time?

Yes. You are given a schedule and completing reports on time is very important. Occasionally, emergencies arise and if you are unable to complete your assignment, you should call your supervisor as soon as possible so they may re-schedule you.


Could this become a full-time job?

No. Being one of Jack's Mystery Guests is a temporary, part-time job. It's a great way to make some extra money, but it's not a get-rich-quick scheme or a way to make a living.


Who sees the reports?

The reports are sent to the restaurant managers. Ultimately, the restaurant employees that are evaluated see your report, so it is very important to be fair, objective, thorough and honest when completing your report.


How do managers use the reports?

The reports are used so that restaurant managers have a realistic view of how they are serving their customers. If they were great, you should tell them so! If they weren't so great, they should know that too.


How do I become a Mystery Guest?

If we had Jack in the Box here, I would do it for the free food alone. I, too, LOVE their tacos. Whenever I am in an area where there's Jack in the Box, that is practically the only place that I'll eat.
