Didn't they used to have a soft drink named Mello Yello, that kinda tasted like Mountain Dew?
Yes, you can still get Pop Rocks, and I still love them, the way they snap and crackle in your mouth!

Cool

The boxed rock candy that I remember was called Volcano Rocks, and I loved those! I'm 31 now, but if I could find them, I'd still be eating them like crazy.

Bambi, I thought cool ranch Doritos were everywhere. There are around here. In fact, I went grocery shopping today and they were on sale! What area are you in? I am in Illinois, just across the river from St. Louis.

"Song of the South" was released on video in the UK but not in the States (not pc). I saw some copies on Ebay a long time ago but I think you had to have a converter for the UK format.

I miss "WACKY WAFERS" by Willy Wonka.
I don't think they make them anymore.
I loved the banana and watermelon.

You can find copies of Song of the South on the internet by doing a search. I did find some a while ago around $50, can't remember what term I used when I searched, it wasn't just Song of the South. Don't know where the copies came from, maybe people converted the UK version? Who knows? Anyway, if they do release it on video I really don't think they should edit it. I know it would offend people, but there are lots of movies out there that offend people and I have this little pet peeve about them doing things like that. But I'm not even going to get into that.

Anyway, can you believe this thread is this long?

I thought of something else, colorforms. Somebody told me they still make them but I haven't seen them in forever. I used to LOVE to play with the sets we had, Holly Hobbie, Raggedy Anne, Sesame Street and a few others. They were such great sets. Tons of colorforms, plus the boards you put them on were 3D and really cool.

Anyone know if they still make Tinker Toys? I loved those too.

Unhappy

Colorforms today just aren't the quality I remember from MY childhood. I bought my son some "Blue's Clue's" colorforms and they don't stick to anything. It is so frustrating and makes my son want to throw the box across the room. Maybe I just got a bad box but they are useless because they don't stick!!!!

Yep, colorforms today do pretty much suck because they don't stick. Not even to what they are SUPPOSED to stick to.

Somebody mentioned sit n spins. Those should be pretty easy to find. Just go to Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

To the person who mentioned the Electric Company, YES, I remember it well. In first grade they would always wheel in the TV about 9am and we would get our milk and cookies and watch Sesame Street and The Electric Company. We learned a lot from both of those shows. Remember in school when if you wanted a milk, you just droped a nickel in the milk can? Now what does it cost? 50 cents maybe? Ahh, the good ole days. I miss them.

Shocked

WOW! Thanks for the tips on "Song of the South." I checked ebay and sure enough they have lots of copies of the UK version for about $30. One site said there are places that will convert it for you for the US so I may look in to that!

hrdlife,

Glad you found the sit n spin. My kids have one and they love it! We've had it about 5 years now and it is holding up great, too.

Wasn't someone on here looking for Mello Yello? Well, guess what? I went to my mom's tonite, and what was sitting on the table? A can of Mello Yello. She said my sister buys it all the time and they always have it at the store. I guess I never noticed because I don't like the white/yellow sodas much anyway, so I never really looked.

OMG, I hadn't thought of buckwheats in forever! Or Holly Hobbie. Does anyone remember the little figurines that look just like the precious moments characters? I had my whole room done in them when I was a young girl. Oh, I remember! Betsey Clark! I haven't been able to find anyone to remember them. I swear they were just like Precious Moments figurines are now.

Romper Room--once in a while, goofing around I hold up a mirror and say "I see Jimmy, and Susie" and everyone looks at me like I am a nut. Just having a flashback. But that's okay. No one ever remembers Cecil and Beanie either. I loved that cartoon.

I am going to look up Song of the South. Thanks for the info. That is one of my stepfather's favorite movies!
