| I tried searching the net for that bubble plastic stuff because I also see the ads constantly on Nickelodeon advertising it. I found a thread discussing it here: http://forums.thathomesite.com/forums/load/parents/msg1220430010254.html and it sounds like the one you order on tv isn't all it's cracked up to be. Nothing's ever as good as we remember it, huh? One thing I remember from younger days that I haven't had in a long time is Zingers. They were like Twinkies but had a layer of frosting on the top. You can probably still get them somewhere but they don't have them where I shop....

| played with it ALL the time...i have seen the commercials for it on nickjr but it just doesn't look the same.... anyone remember "my first barbie" with the slick legs that helped you dress her, wanted to get one for my daughter (she's 2 and gets so frustrated when she wants to change their clothes) and was saddened to find they stopped making her...don't know why, she was a great barbie... they still sell zingers here in virginia and i have to agree they are SO GOOD:) can't think of anything else, i was born in '76 so grew up in the mid to late 80's (shudder), don't think they discontinued much then or if they did i don't remember...just the barbie:) oh yeah i know are hippity-hops still around? haven't seen any...(the big ball with the handle those were great, we used to have to use them in gym class they were so fun!!!!) and sit and spins, the things where you sit on 'em and turn the thing in the middle man those were so fun too:) GREAT TOPIC!!!:)

| The bubble stuff was called "Super Elastic Bubble Plastic". You can sometimes find it at speciality children's stores like lEarning Express, Wise Old Owl ...etc.. You can still get sitnspins at toys stores. I think I have seen them at Toysrus. I have gotten the hoppity hops at I believe Marshalls or TJMaxx. I don't know if FAO Schwartz has an online store but I do know they sometimes carry different toys. Frookies can be found at Bread and Circus a health food store. I know some grocery stores also have health food sections. I just got a free sample of the Shrinky dinks. I plan to order them. This was something I loved as a kid. ANYBODY KNOW IF THEY STILL MAKE PUFF PAINTS? |

| What you no longer see- an intact family where 60+year old parents are still married, and their children are still married to original spouses. My family of 4 siblings and myself were all married to original spouses until 1998, now 2 marriages have gone south. My parents were married 49+ years when Dad passed in 1995. DH and I feel like an endangered species, being married 28 years....

| I agree that a lasting marriage is hard to find. My husband and I are in our early thirties and will be married ten years in Oct. We both believe in marriages lasting forever. Considering the fact that many of our friends arn't even married yet, we figure we are doing pretty well. On another note. Some of you mentioned the fried apple pies. This recipe is a little different but just a tasty. I found it online. You take regular tortillas you find at the store, fry them in a little vetable oil and sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamin (I guess you could use powdered sugar too) They are easy to make and delicious! Just an idea. |

| Definetly Marathon Bars. I have been looking everywhere for them, & found out they no longer make them:(. And yes, intact familys. Although I have to say, that between my DH's husband & mine all 9 married couples are still going strong! Including our parents! |

| I was just thinking of that plastic stuff the other day! I remember it had a funny, but good smell and after you blew it up it would crackle and pop when you scrunched it up. I got my shrinky dink sample the other day (which is why I was thinking of that plastic stuff) and I was so excited! (My hubby said, What the heck is a "shrinky dink") I said "You have never heard of Shrinky Dinks" So we all piled up in front of the oven to watch it shrink! I think he secretly thought it was pretty neat. My daughter wants to order more! Boy, those were the days! Before Nintendo and all the other stuff nowadays! I also loved Gee, your hair smells terrific! |

| A&W's Mashed Potato Fries When I was 14 I worked as a carhop for A&W. Their fries were made from mash potatoes that came in large bags. The bags were put into a contraption that forced the potatoes through a form that made them fry shaped. They were then deep fat fried. They were great. |
