Question Way OT--What was your favorite wedding gift?

Hello,

Excuse me for being so off-topic, but you guys are smart shoppers with great ideas...so I can't think of anyone else who would have better ideas!

I have a girlfriend getting married soon who already has most everything. In fact, she has more than she needs of household stuff, etc., has had a zillion showers, etc. Because she's older (mid 30's) both her and her fiance have accumulated a lot of "stuff" already. Anyways, she is a very good friend and I'd like to get her something memorible and thoughtful for her wedding, something different that she won't already have.

So, do you have any ideas for unique wedding gifts? Did anyone give you something that you really appreciated or still think of as special?

Thanks for any inspirations!

Beth

I don't know if it's a good idea or not....But my husband and I, when we were first married, were given Gift Certificates for Olan Mills to have Our very first portraits done!!! Sure ..they will have lots of pics from the wedding and reception...but these will be different!!
Just a thought!!!

here's three ideas

Have her wedding invitation framed.

Give them champagne for the honey moon.

Just give cash... like we do at a Catholic wedding. ;)
(Gifts, schmifts... the bride wants money LOL!!!)
(Gifts are for showers)

lectric has great potentiallectric has great potential
Cash is always great...........NO Savings Bonds...
A GC to something they really like would be nice.
I do like the idea of framing their invitation.....
This was done for us and is quite lovely.

A great gift is to buy a nice photo album. Make sure you take lots of photos at her bridal showers, rehearsal dinner (if you are part of that), any other pre-wedding function. Then at the wedding and reception, take plenty more, making sure to get plenty of all the different guests. Put them all in the album and present that to her. My maid of honor did that for me and I like it much better than the formal album that I got through the photographer.

One of our favorite gifts was a video that a friend took of our families, coworkers, friends etc, talking about how they realized that we were a couple, what they thought we would be like in 20 years. Advice for us as a couple from some of our "older" friends. We treat this as one of our most valuable possession. We laugh and we cry(one of our very best friends has since passed away and we love seeing him smiling and talking away).

It must have taken him quite awhile to get to these people, but We loved it then and love it even more every time we see it.
