Just my two cents, but I stayed at the Excalibur in Feb and I was not too impressed. If you can get into the Venetian or Madalay Bay, do it--they are very nice!!!

My hubby and I are going to Vegas on the second week of June. I tried hotwire.com and I chose a 4 star hotel at Las Vegas strip for $ 54/night...........it turned out to be the Treasure Island at the Mirage. Treasure Island's official website sells it for $ 65.

Did you have to pay a "fee" to purchase that "discounted" price at hotwire like priceline does? Add that into the $54.00 rate and I bet it really wasn't a deal...

I've only gotton lucky with these consolodators once. It was for a rental car and I got what they called a 46% savings. Actually, I got about $20.00 off the price I would have had to pay with my corporate rate.

I tend to stay away from these type of travel consolodators anymore. You really have to know your prices well before you bid.

Hotwire

Hotwire does not use bids or additional fees. They give you one hour to accept the price they quote to you. You don't know which hotel it is until you accept their offer. I've used them several times. Sometimes I got very nice deals...other times just so-so. I booked my Vegas trip this July through Orbitz. Their prices were pretty decent and you can call to speak to a booking agent on the phone. they will check on their prices while you wait on the phone.I knew the prices that I had in mind before I called though. Have fun . Sallie ;)

If you don't care about staying on the strip, or actually prefer to get away from it, try Arizona Charlies. It was all remodeled a couple years ago, has a great coffee shop, a nice casino, and the rooms are really nice for only $38 a night. They have a shuttle van to the strip if you care to use it or you can use your own vehicle. I always stay there when I go to Vegas so I can escape the strip for awhile and sleep in peace.

I just got back from THE best deal of all in Vegas--a WagerWorks vacation!
2 nights NY NY
1 night Mirage
2 EFX tickets (we got fantastic seats)
2 Champagne Brunchs MGM
2 Dinner Buffets Mirage
2 Dinner Buffets Bellagio (awesome)
4 Passes to the Dolphin Habitat
All for the cost of $0!!

I thought since it was free we'd get crummy service, but it was 1st class all the way! VIP check-in, great seats for the show PLUS line passes to all the buffets (it would have been a 3 hour wait at Bellagio!)

And I have enough for points to go again for 4 nights! I can't wait. Do I LOVE WagerWorks or what?!?!?

Even though the point thingy is over it might be worth while to sign up with them because they send me killer deals all the time. I got an e-mail for the Golden Nugget for $49 per night with 1 free buffet per person, a Free Spa Pass and 2 free cocktails.

If I didn't already have the free trips I would take advantage of this since I really love the Golden Nugget. I will definately be looking for the MGM-Mirage e-mails after I use up my freebies, especially for November. I want to stay at a 1st class hotel for COMDEX this year!

Go to http://www.wagerworks.com and register and be sure to click YES, send me special offers.
