Usually, those would be found locally but let me tell you about our experience with carpet cleaners. I'm not sure if you have ever used one before but we thought we were getting a great deal when we had Stanley Steemer out to our house. We had about 2000 sq feet of carpet cleaned and it cost us nearly $200. The guys showed up, sprayed this cleaning stuff on (it took like 5 minutes) and then went over the carpet really fast with the steaming machine. From the time they entered the house until they left it took no more than 35 minutes. We thought it would be much more thorough. When we looked at the situation later, we realized that we would have been better off buying one of those home machines for about $200 than spending it on a service. That way we could be more careful, go slower, do it again and again if necessary, and really clean the high traffic areas. To top it all off, the guys were supposed to put on an antibacterial type of spray and they did it wrong. They put it in the cleaning solution and then sucked it back up with the machine so it didn't stay in the carpet. We had to have them back out the next day to fix it and we still don't think they did it correctly. So, be careful with those companies.....Just my opinion. Good luck, Jen

I agree that there are deals to be had, but locally. My comments:Carpet cleaning may start at $60 for a living room and hall, but adding a bedroom or dining room would only be $10-20/room more. I have found that the more experienced the guy is, the more negotiating on the price for additional work. MANY times these cleaners are young, college students...The company we use takes a fair amount of time and are pretty thorough. Some companies hook up to your water supply-some have their water supply on the truck. If you have stains try to get them out first. When your cleaning company comes, point out any stain. They will try to get it out, but the hot water they use will set anything they don't notice. Also, if you want the stain guard you pay extra. I haven't had good luck with that part. In any case, the first time you have your carpet cleaned, the stain guard comes out and your carpet will show dirt pretty quickly after. I believe professional cleaning should be done occasionally even if you are using a steam cleaner in between. For local specials check the packet of advertising that comes in your mailbox every week. The company I work with calls about every 3-6 months offering a "special" cuz I'm such a good customer.;)

I have had much better luck with the rugdocter then the cleaners you can purchase they seem to light duty for my needs and i would rather do it myself than have it done. In my area they run about 19.95 for 24 hr. and the cleaners are extra but they clean much better than the big green machine we payed over $200 for..
