sorry i haven't read all responses. Is this the walmart pop up pool? We had one of these and the filters that come with them are garbage. It never kept the pool clean? We spoke to someone who had the same problem and they bought a regular filter made a big difference.

A regular filter as in one I get at a pool store ??? I thought about investing in a reusable washable one ....Oh and yeah it is like the walmart pool only I got it at academy.....I did buy another filter since I had it but was just one from Walmart...

Ok I got the right test now...did it this morning and the ph is below 6.8 so I added some ph + ....the clorine was at 1ppm and the bromamine was at 2 ppm...I really like the test that you add the drops your self I feel it is a more accurate reading...now when do I shock it after I get the ph level normal ???? package says check ph again after 2 hrs so I will go do that about 1130 am ......

Hi,

Yep, wait till the ph level is right - then shock it good. That allows the chlorine to kill the algae/bacteria, so you can then get it out of there, and keep that filter running. Update, k? It will clear up. They always do and they like to make you work for it first!

Ok, just went back a page and read about the Algaecide, good for you, it's not the Permanent Algaecide that is the correct one.
The clarifier you may/may not need. What that does is get the particles in your pool to cling together in order for you to be able to vacuum them up easier. But you'll need to get the green under control and then decide.

i got the ph right and then boy did I ever shock it good LOL when I finished messing with it on friday nite I was really stressed cause It was still green but lo and behold saturday morning the green was gone and it was a nice clean white cloudy color LOL but hey sure beats green...
I checked the clhorine levels and they were through the roof....guess shocked it to good huh lol so anyway I took all the floating chlorine containers out yesterday vacummed it good and now waiting for the clhorine level to come down...and hopefully it will not be cloudy anymore ...
Do you think that is why its so cloudy cause of my excellent shocking and chlorine tabs in the floating device lol

Probably, but it could also be cloudy from the fact that it's dead (and bleached!) algae! :) Great job, you DID it!!!!

I am staying tuned for next update and I apologize, I should have told you to take out the floating things (chlorine).

Thanks for all your help ..I went out today and boy is it looking good I can clearly see the bottom . Still a little cloudy but not bad at all...will send the kids in today to vacuum the bottom and I think another day of goooooddd filtering and it will be sparkly :) Oh and dh has been cleaning the filter everyday ...you should see how white that thing is with all the bleach that has been going thru it :lol:

GREEN POOLS!!!!! YUK, MAKE SURE YOU TURN YOUR METER TO WASTE OUT!!!! AND HAVE A WATER HOSE IN BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE SOME WATER OUT BUT IT WILL SUCK THAT GREEN ALGAE STRAIGHT OUT AND NOT GO THROUGH YOUR FILTER AND THE ALGAE NOR SAND WILL COME BACK THROUGH IT WORKS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol I'm sorry...But They make the water green on purpose here in Chicago in March! Made me think of that...stays that way all year. Its so gross! I have no idea how to help though. Hope you got it fixed! :)
