What was your "style" in highschool?

ohh so embarrassing to remember! I remember electric blue mascara, and levi jackets. Also converse shoes. I also wore STIRRUP pants or leggings- lol all the time. When I was in junior high we wore leg warmers, and the guys sometimes would wear a bandana tied on one leg. Jordache was big then, as well as those shirts that would change with heat, handprints would show, etc. Those shirts always wore out with washing them though.

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

I was a punk/new waver...my wardrobe consisted mostly of black and Salvation Army finds. I pierced my nose (gawd that hurt...didn't last long), and I had several variations of mohawks including one buzz cut with a long piece down the front. I got tired of trying so hard to be different because when there was a group of us...we weren't really different, right? So I let my hair grow out and took a more casual approach to clothing. At that point (around senior year) I really got into theater and pageants, and it was much easier to get parts with a more conventional look. I still liked (still do) the music, though.

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

We were limited on what we could wear at our school. I wore Levi blue jeans, harness boots, double notched belt and watch band, and button-down long sleeved shirts (tucked in.) I was a jock most of high school and then drill team manager (a much more rewarding activity to be with girls than boys;) )

The crowd I ran with was closed and not opened to outsiders. We were considered the philosophers and deep thinkers (not nerds with slide rulers.) We read Ken Kesey and Silvia Plath. We listened to Bob Dylan, Leonord Cohan, and such. I think they called us hippies (we just didn't look like them until we got out of high school.

Once out of high school, my hair (which is naturally curly) was allowed to grow past my shoulders. I wore a Army field jakcet with a peace sign on one shoulder and a marijuana patch on the other. I wore tie-dyed t-shirts and bell-bottoms with flags sewn in the seams to make the bell even bigger. I wore Ray-Ban aviator sun-glasses, but I still wore those harness boots though.

After that phase, I went progressive-country. Painted Desert Western shirts, Levi boot cut blue jeans, big belt buckle, boots, and cowboy hats. I am still in that phase to a certain degree, however, I wear suits and business casual more often.

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

It was so long ago, but I remember that we couldn't wear jeans or slacks of any kind except on Homecoming Day. The guys were pretty basic, and the girls wore straight skirts, short-sleeve sweaters with anklets matching the sweaters. The shoes were white bucks or sometimes saddle shoes or penny mocs. We thought we were so classy in those outfits!

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

Early 70's--the hippie look. Wore low-rise jeans and, long straight hair, halter tops--much like now. Isn't it funny how things come back around. And I never, never thought I would wear bell-bottom jeans again--but now the wider legs are back in.

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

I graduated in 1981.
My family was relatively poor, so I pretty much wore what was available, or hand-me-downs from my cousin.
For awhile, satin baseball jackets were in. I remember using my own babysitting money to buy a pink one. Boy, was I happy! Vests were in also, especially those fuzzy sheepskin shearling ones.
When I was on drill team, we wore a uniform that was passed down from someone who had graduated already. It was a short blue and yellow dress, with matching gloves, panty cover , and pom-poms. And we had to wear navy blue and white saddle shoes with the uniform.
I don't think they even make saddle shoes anymore.

Actually, Daiquiri, you were classy! When I look at some of the things the girls in high school wear today....oy vey! I'm not the most modest person in the world but they can make even me blush for them.

We should post pictures!!!

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

I was in high school from 78 - 82 which covered MANY styles and changes - late disco to cowboy (thanks to Urban Cowboy!) to preppy/business to early new romantic/new wave. Mini skirts were just coming into fashion when I graduated. Cowboy boots were still big...plastic Candies shoes too... "feathered" back hair and perms...Izod shirts and chinos...

My own style - I was a bit of everything. Had the prarie skirt and cowboy boots... had the preppy shirt with the ribbon tie at the neck and blazer...wore cords and chinos on occasion but I hated them!! Deep in my heart I like the funkier style clothing so after grad I started buying mini skirts! :)

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

I graduated in the mid 70's, and I wore Catholic school uniforms for the first 2 years of HS. When I transferred to public school, I wore the "goody-2-shoes" look; dirndle or pleated skirts, Victorian-look blouses, etc. I was completely out of step with everyone else, and I have to admit I was pretty nauseating!

Mid-70's here, but still the hippie look (our area was a little slow in stepping up to new fashions). My family's budget was so tight, but I did work in the summers so I could buy a few clothes. I wore hip-hugger pants, bodysuit tops, halters, tennis shoes, long hair that I learned how to straighten somewhat, long pierced earrings, chokers, and patchouli oil. :)

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

I graduated high school in 1968. I wore lots of skirts just above the knee and lots of sweaters.
College I was definitely in the "hippie" mode. Always wore my hair long and straight to my waist. Was 50 pounds lighter and looked good in my perpetual outfit: jeans and t-shirt.

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

I was the jeans type of girl. Jeans and jean skirts and jean jackets. I wore what was comfortable. I was kind of a nerdy type also. I excelled in school work which didn't do alot for social life.

Re: What was your "style" in highschool?

LOL yep I forgot to mention the infamous DESIGNER JEANS which I wore in 9th- 11th grades... I remember having to lay down on the bed just to zip them up too... we used to call them "yeast infection tight" for obvious reasons!

I remember going to see "Neighbors" with my brother... I knocked off a large popcorn and a soda and popped the zipper on my jeans while laughing at a funny scene -ooooopssss!
