Thumbs down Stamps.com Ticks me off!

Well Stamps.com has finally ticked me off enough to start posting everywhere I can find an ear!

They advertise 25.00 worth of free postage and a scale for free trial 30 days.

NO WHERE during sign up or in the FAQs does it tell you that you will get 5.00 postage up front

then for the next three months you can send in a post card, limit of one per month for your 10.00 postage, 10.00 postage and your free scale. You have to remain a paying user of their service for 4 months before you have your free stuff all to you and it costs 15.00 a month!!! nice huh? I even emailed them and cut and pasted the whole ad and sign up info and small print in which it doesnt mention any of this in fact its the opposite! It says your 25.00 credit will appear RIGHT AWAY and your scale will be mailed right out to you ---- you do nothing~! It is the most FLAGARANT bunch of LYING I have come across yet in all my deal searching! Tell your friends!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

Well alot of people were abusing the deal, so I don't blame them. At first people were doing the deal with the 25 postage, scale, and compaq gift card and when they get their stuff they would cancel right away, and then do it all over again. That was going on for a while.

Then stamps.com got a bit more tougher making customers who did the deal to at least be a member for a month before cancelling to keep the scale.

I guess now they have put a stop to people even doing the month. IMO, they should of did that a long time ago.

I'm sorry about your problems with them though.

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

I have used them for more than a year. Had some problems with NO PRINTS which you can't get your money back on. For the most part it was ok, saved a bunch of time around Christmas with everyone in the address book.

A lot has changed. Their price is now around $15/mo for new sign ups. That is just way too much, might as well use a meter.

If you plan to cancel your account YOU HAD BETTER save address book, export it. You can't get back in to program and salvage data, unless you sign back up. But for you technos the info is in .BIN files within stamps.com directory.
Signing back up, thats some fun, they won't let you keep cheap 4.99 plan, that deal is gone.

They also have the contract written so you may have to keep the service for a year unless you cancel before 1st month is up.

If you already have the service and like it then great. Just do your self a favor and backup address book if your using their format. Don't quit at end of cycle/plan or they will hit you for another month. I have heard they will keep billing you after cancel but not confirmed it.

I don't think they are going to make it with their new pricing but if they have enough people still on the cheaper plan than maybe they can pull it off.

Just my .37 cent worth :D

Angry Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

I have also had a bad experience with stamps.com. Here is the message that I posted on another complaint site:"I signed up for the 29 day free trial at Stamps.com and decided at the end of the trial period that I did not want to continue. I tried to call a dozen different times within the trial period to cancel and was on hold so long that I gave up after waiting any where from 10-30 minutes every time. I finally got through to a manager today and explained the situation and was told that I was approximately 2 weeks beyond the trial period and there was nothing he could do about ending the automatic 12 month lease. My advice to all of you reading this complaint is to stay clear of Stamps.com"

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

Hi!
Sadly...my experience was even worse. I tried to cancel the trial on day 28 via the web form. In the meantime..since they took two days to respond..I got a message from them complaining about they could not get their fees. Good, I thought. They replied with a "You can't cancel via email or the webform..you have to call us.
Ha! Good luck on that one...they never answer their phone...I waited on hold for 45 minutes and that was the end of that.
I decided the only way to deal with these people was to file a compalint with the BBB. Ohhh...and what a report they had for me, folks.
"F" rating. Nice. You can view the report here:
http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=13131095&hAKAID=13&hAddrID=11

It is truly horrible, folks. Sadly...at least in my case..it get's worse. As I said..I filed a complaint early in January. Well..they responded two days ago and agreed to cancel the now $31.98
I owed them. Think it's over? Nope.

I used a checkcard with them...and I thought I was covered. Can't get cash that's not in the account, right? They'll always get a decline, right? Wrongo! not 24 hours later...after agreeing to cancelling the $31.98 and a bill that states I owe them $0.00..they went in with what the bank called, "Demand To Pay". Sadly..when the banks issue us these checkcards, they don't tell us about these things, do they?
Well...it turns out that after a certain number of declines for the same amount...some merchants can force the bank to pay them.
I, of course, am not letting this stand. I notified the bank the day I found out about it...and are filing a "Affidavit of Transaction Dispute" for the $31.98 they literally stole from my account. The checkcard is cancelled and they will not be able to go in again and steal any more.

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

They pissed me off as well / I cancled 3 months ago and I'm still being charged.
I filled at the BBB
http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=13131095&sm=

You can file compaints there and the take care of them for you.

I was thinking of doing a joint law suit for my $50.00 the have pissed me off so bad I my hire a lawer.

I have been told on 3 occasions they are crediting my account and nothing ever happens. when I mention the person I talked to prior they say no one with that name works there. Last person I talked to was David Neilan.

I hope the better business Bureau lowers there rating.

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

I'm equally frustrated with stamps.com. Not only did I never receive their promised welcome packet, but I have been trying for months to reach them to cancel my account. Having enrolled in October of 2004, I have been on hold for 45 minutes to an hour each of the dozens of times I have called to cancel the account. I simply have not had that kind of time, so I've given up each time, hoping that the next time I'll get through. At this point, it's very clear that they make it a simple process for customers to be charged the monthly fee, but make it nearly impossible to cancel the account. The website makes it very clear that you must call to cancel, and that has proven to be impossible. E-mails sent to their customer service continue to go unanswered. I'm furious with them for false advertising as well as what apparently seems to be a shameless way to hold its customers virtual prisoners in their enrollment program. Something needs to be done, and I'm looking into making this happen.

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

They also seem to have a generic email they send to respond to just about everything. They are a real pain to deal with.

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

Don't sign up for this service. I called in January 27, 2006 to cancel the account, they told me that they will as of that date. I had to go and cancel my credit card and get a new one with a new number to get the company to not be able toc charge me again. Then, I get an email stating that they cannot bill by cc and I emailed them back stating that they will never get another cc due to the fact that I cancelled in January. They then in turn emailed back stating that the account is cloesd and won't get charged again. WRONG! They are trying to bill me for 2 months of service, which they won't get, and then state to me that the supervisor that I spoke to left the account open since he lied that I wouldn't stay on hold to verify the account, ect. I told them that I would report to BBB and will never pay for something I canceled and was told by the supervisor in January was cancelled at that time. WHAT A SORRY BUSINESS TO DO BUSINESS WITH!

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

Well even though the last post was so long ago I still need to vent I guess. I wish I would have read this 4 weeks and 2 days ago. I signed up for the 4 week "risk free" trial. Soon after I desided that I would not really use this service and what was once a good idea was no longer need so about two weeks after signing up I went to the contact us portion of their website and messaged them to cancel my account and for two weeks I heard nothing back well two days ago I get this email that says we tryd to charge your credit card and it came back unathorized. So I go through it all with them via email about four times that I wrote them a message to cancel my account and they say you have to call to cancel and I tell them I dont have a phone so just cancel my account already and they tell me my account is canceled but I owe them for two months of service the risk free four weeks and the 8 hours of that next day equals two months some where I guess. No one yet has said anything about me messaging through the site to cancel and I'm sure its because they ended up canceling my account via email like they tell everyone they cant. Basicly this company sucks I have wrote the Federal Trade Comission, the original site that led me to their site and in ten minutes the BBB.

Stay Away the cons far out way any possible pros

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

Just one more thing the BBB gives Stamps.com a AA rating (the second highest) even though they have 1248 complaints as of today. So obviously people need to start to go to the BBB site and complain there. I think the second Highest rating from the BBB is crazy.

Re: Stamps.com Ticks me off!

I, too, am in the midst of trying to get my money back. I tried to cancel online, which I couldn't find any other way to cancel, and so I sent their eform. A few days later I get one saying I can't cancel by email and to call. I work long hours and don't have time to call them. So, I email back. This goes on for a week. On top of all this, I told them my father is dying and I just can't deal with having to call them up and cancel. They decide they will accept my email cancellation, but they are going to charge me the flat $15.99 because I cancelled after the end of my trial period. Well, I cancelled within the trial period, they just didn't accept it until a week later. Then they charge my account another $15.99, saying the first 15.99 was for the month that I had my trial subscription, and this is for the next month! I never got the welcome packet, so when I decided to cancel, I just printed up a bunch of envelopes with postage on them. Of course, you can't just print blank envelopes, so I had to think of some people I was going to mail things to in the near future.

I intend to go to the BBB site. Did anyone get their money back by doing that?
