Some days I just hate being short!!!

I'm in the computer lab at school. The chair is supposed to be adjustable, but of course it's broken. It's set too high and my feet don't touch the floor! I feel like a little kid. The really pitiful thing is that the chair isn't adjusted all that high, I'm just short. I hate being 5'1 1/2"!!!!! (just got to add that 1/2" LOL!)

When I drive my car I feel like I should sitting on phone books. I can see alright it's just I can only see about an inch of the hood!

Our kitchen cabinets on the wall at home are way too high up for me. I can really only reach stuff on the bottom shelf. The second shelf I can only reach stuff on the very edge and then I'm only touching it with my fingertips. I hate having to drag the stool over everytime I want something off the second or third shelfs!

It's so embarassing to ask an employee for help getting something off a shelf. They say let me go get a ladder and I say no, you won't need it. It'll be like the third shelf for the top which they can just reach up and grab, but I can't reach it.

I'm 5'2" and it is frustrating sometimes. Other times it is a real advantage.

4'11.5" here .... I know what you mean... no furniture "fits", I am heavy, so I have to buy those more expensive "just my size" type jeans so I dont have two feet to cut off of the bottom, and it is just a pain in the ol' hiney to have to climb on a stool or chair to reach in upper cabinets and shelves.
I guess being short is just a pet peeve... sort of like those gray hairs creeping in more and more on my head LOL!!!

I'm the same as you sweetiris, and I hate to climb anything to reach in my cupboards, The worst thing is changing a lightbulb waaaaay up there! When I was young I liked it, but now it's even harder to find clothes that fit right.

I can relate to you all! I am 5 foot 1 1/2 inches. my dh used to tell everyone I was going to sue because my butt was built too close to the ground! my oldest dd is almost 34 and she is 4 foot 11 1/2 . her 13 yr old is a lot taller than her.

Picture this: a slightly overweight short middle aged woman (5'2 and a half" LOL) standing on a stool to take picures of new members for their photo id's ....Not too bad until you throw in the fact I have to kind of bend at the knees a little to get it just right....not a pretty picture .......with a slightly oversized butt hanging out in the back.
Oh to be about 5 inches taller.

Ok, 4'8" here!! I can totally relate! I got myself a reacher at home, works wonders! Don't know how I ever lived without it! I can also relate to the driving, I sit on a pillow and I have a gas pedal attachment so I can reach that better! Thank goodness my DH is 5'11" he gets most of the high stuff for me at home, at the grocery store, etc. I don't really look my age (30) so if I am alone @ the grocery store I can look pathetic enough just staring at something high I normally get offers of help LOL I remember one day I was standing in line at the checkout and she just stood there, I said are you waiting for something? She said I was going to wait until your mom came before I rang stuff out, I said ma'am this is my stuff, I am 28 years old! The look on her face was priceless. I have had people at the mall ask why I am not in line to see Santa, etc...LOL

I have a great sense of humor so I just laugh it off. It's not always bad being short!

I don't look my age either. I've done the stand there and look pathetic thing, usually gets offers for me too. LOL! A couple times when I've got my credit card out to pay before they even looked at it I've been told "you can't use your parents credit card if they're not here" 8\ When I tell them it's my credit card and I'm 21 they don't believe me. They then look at my license like they're trying to figure out if it's fake or not.
I did just love the other day when I was sitting outside and woman selling stuff came up and asked me if my mother or father was home. I said nope and she went off to bug the neighbors! :)

I guess it's not always bad being short, it's just sometimes I'd just kill to be a inch or two taller.

I am 5ft7 I am the one who at work gets to get all the stuff of the high shelves or pick up the high stuff :)
I dont mind one bit.

My best friend is 4ft 11 we look funny walking around together LOL

Actually in the grocery stores I try to help out when I see people trying to get to something on a shelf they cant reach ... I do it in a kind way ... I will walk up and say here let me get that for you .
And every time I have gotten a huge smile and a thank you very much :)
It makes me feel really good :)

I did make an error at work the other day LOL A guy came in looking for brake fluid I said its back there on the top shelf back wall LOLLOL He laughed and said well I may need help getting it .
I looked up and the guy stood about up to my nose ... I was really embaressed . But he laughed and managed to go back and grab one that was on the edge :)

im tiny, just 4 foot 10/11, kinda curvy, an i think that its really tough being this small. tough for other people i mean.
I personally, dont feel that small in myself, its only wen people comment on it that i realise how tiny i am. then i just think, its their problem not mine.
i have a really great frend, shes a bit on the large side, but sometimes hse cant help commenting on my height, and although i wud never say it to her, i really want to say, (wen shes says "ure so short"), well ure really fat! just so she can understand exactly how it feels.
personally mi height has never held me bak, im off adventuring next year, and exceed at school. being short is not a disease, its not a disability, it doesnt define you, but, like most things it contributes to who you are - unique!
(and by the way, guys love it, they love the protective thing, but i know whos really in control ;-) )

Well, I'm like hmsram....I'm one of those that always gets asked to get things off the top shelf at the grocery store. I really don't mind, it's usually an elderly lady and they are so appreciative.
My frustration lies in finding pants/jeans long enough. Everything seems to have about a 32" inseam and I need a 33".
I'm 5'8"...and I always thought 2 inches shorter would be perfect....
