Wink

people are the same as they have always been.

crime stats for the past hundred years really have not changed too much. crimes we have now are crimes we've always had.

in this information age, we just hear more about other people and their lack of morals.

we're all scum, we've all always been scum, and we'll all always be scum (except those of you nice people who aren't scum, of course!) ;)

Aww, that was such a nice thing to say about me. Haha :p

Well, when I was little, I thought all adults were good people that didn't lie, steal, cheat, etc.

The older I get, the more disgusted I get with the "adults" of the world, who act 100 times worse than most children.

Oh - and for the record - I don't remember any Joe Camel cartoons or being targeted by cigarette companies (although I don't deny they've done this are still are doing it). But the only pressure I felt whenI was younger was from friends. I'm sure this is the way it is for most young people. Cigarette companies don't even have to target the young, they're doing it to themselves.

Anyone else besides me disgusted with the lack of integrity and honesty in the world today? I just came from reading the Bath and Body Works coupon thread at FW and I want to throw up.

Sorry to inject more negativity here, but I'm just amazed at what lengths people will go to.
[ADPLACEMENT]1.0[/ADPLACEMENT]
I wish I never saw that thread now. People talking about thirty-fourty free items (when it was supposed to be one per person, no less) and how to best scam the company. What really made me want to lose my lunch was the question about it being legal to alter a coupon for after the date.

Sigh. It reminds me of one time at a freebie fair that I went to. This family went around grabbing anything and everything they could get thier hands on- even taking a comic book out of my hands. I saw them sitting in the middle of the floor, a ton of stuff, multiples of the same magazine, baby supplies, tampons, etc. And these were guys!

Some people...

dkeppel, I know.... and it just really BOTHERS me!!! I'm not saying I'm perfect, but this is just so BASIC!! I think one reason it bothers me so much is that the people that are doing this are not in prison; they are the people that we meet every day. We ride the bus with them, we work with them, we eat lunch with them.

These people either:

1. Have no conscience
2. Have a conscience and ignore it

It HAS to be the second one.

I got my Sharp vacuum cleaner today. Since I don't think it's a good idea to have anything on wheels at the end of my arms right now (had surgery on both feet 11 days ago), I'll have to have my DH try it out when he gets home.

It's obviously brand new, in the original box, so unless it doesn't work, I think we've got a winner! Gotta get the rebate ready to go!

teraberry, at first I thought Overstock.com looked good, until I found other web-sites with prices much lower. I don't know about their quality as I've never ordered from them.

DH gives the vacuum cleaner two thumbs up! Overstock was by far the cheapest place to buy this. $65 after rebate. Most places are selling it for $149-179 before $25 rebate. I did find one place that had it for $119 before rebate, but at $89 before rebate, this was an awesome deal! Thanks!

We got our cordless phone, with caller ID from Overstock.com over a year ago. We had a similar experience. The best price, and no problems with the phone.

I guess I could go give a positive review at Overstock, but probably no one would believe me! LOL!!!!!

Last Year I ordered a Swiss Army Watch(actually a Wenger), my sister also ordered one! They both were new and far less expensive there than anywhere

I guess the reviews are as wide and varied as the people that purchase them! I know even in the past someone here had ordered something and they LOVED it, but someone else from here said it was cheap looking! They are just personal opinions not necessarily fact!

I've used Overstock a couple of times and was happy, but that doesn't mean that everything there is a great buy or that the reviews are all to be believed. I think we're a pretty savvy bunch here and we know how to look out for a true bargain (with help of threads like these!).

As for the other topic, I completely agree with those of you who are disgusted with people's greedy behavior these days. It does seem that I encounter more rude and selfish people, and that adults often don't act anything like it. The word jack-*ss often comes to mind.

Yes, personal greed is in a way at the core of capitalism, but capitalism is not what we should live our entire lives by. It's an ECONOMIC system. Ethics is just as, if not more, important, and yep, some parents have pretty much stopped doing their jobs.

But it is heartening to know that some decent people are still around!

What better sites did you find?

I personally ahve bought many things from overstock and the one time I had a problem with the quality of an item, they took it back. They have put a couple of my reviews up but they were good.

Thumbs down Re: Is anyone else suspicious about the legitamacy of reviews at overstock.com?

I posted a negative review and it was never on their site so someone is definitely editing the reviews page and taking ones that have real honest complaints with facts OVERSTOCK.COM cannot dispute.

Orders are processed immediately so when OVERSTOCK.COM says you can cancel an order if it has been processed they mean if you haven't competed the order page you can cancel. If you complete the order page your order is processed immediately so if you have second thoughts and call their customer service 5 minutes later your order has already been processed for 4 minutes 59 seconds and you will be charged a restocking fee if you return the unwated order.

It's great if you never have the slightest problem. Anything goes wrong with your purchase they will not stand behind their company. OVERSTOCK.COM has misleading information in their 3 plus page return policy. All orders are processed immediately. No order can be cancelled so says OVERSTOCK.COM supervisor "Rachel" (I am sure she gave me a fake name)

Re: Is anyone else suspicious about the legitamacy of reviews at overstock.com?

I ordered something from them once. It was a telescope for my son, and I did a lot of research on the item specs. Supposedly, a telescope with those qualities was supposed to be good. There is absolutely NO WAY this item lived up to its description and reviews. I felt really ripped off and learned my lesson. No matter how good something at their site sounds, I go elsewhere. I paid of lot of money for JUNK.

Let the buyer beware.
