| Re: Is anyone else suspicious about the legitamacy of reviews at overstock.com? I just found this message forum on Google after being so disgusted by which I just saw at Overstock. I was looking at two Soduku games this morning. I don't want one, I just happened to notice it. There are reviews listed for these products that are EXACTLY the same, by two different reviewers on two different dates, for two different "Soduku game" products. What are the odds that two different people would write the exact same review word-for-word, letter for letter, even with same puncutation? And of course this is a 5 out of 5 review despite the fact the other "real" reviews are 1 to 3 stars.
What's worse is that the review almost but not exactly makes sense in reference to the product. There's also a review that talks about how they like the product but refer to it as a "case" when it's a game. It's also a 5 out of 5 review. Clearly, their bad artificial intelligence tagged the wrong fake reviews to the product. Ajnd even worse that that, it put the identical review on two different, yet similar products. You'd think they could pay someone $4.25/hr to sit there and write enough fake reviews that this doesn't happen.
I have to say there's a particular collectible I order from Overstock that is a really good price compared to anywhere else I can get it. I can't complain about that. However, I've ordered other things and been disappointed, even spending over 40 minutes trying to just find a customer service number to call. They make it really difficult to reach a person, obviously hoping you'll give up.
Their "Prague" watches are also a bit of a scam. I found out these come from China and they tout them as some high end watch. But you can't get them anywhere else. Nor do they admit on their site these are made only for Overstock. They're junk, BTW. They look nice, but keep terrible time. I ordered one that gained over 5 minutes in one day, then lost 10 minutes the next day. I never knew what time it actually was without looking at a clock. Buyer beware!
Because on-line retailers are so hard to monitor, these companies get away with stuff like this. I still buy the collectible from Overstock, but I won't buy much else from there. |
