Can negative eBay feedback be removed?

I just had to leave negative feedback for someone for not sending payment, and not returning e-mails . . . so I'm thinking they might leave retalitory negative back for me . . . . if false negative feedback is left, can it be removed?

I thought I read something posted about this here. Any info?

I'm not sure. I know you can reply to any feedback somebody leaves for you. And it's sooo easy to tell the whole story in the 80 character line...lol.

I don't think they will remove it. When I tried to get one removed they told me to just reply to it. So that is what I did.

I know when I see a negative I read the reply and you can usually tell by the reply if it is snotty that they got that negative for a reason.

I have one negative thanks to a seller who was dishonest as they came.......but it hasn't hurt me like I was afraid it would. I have over 150 positives so one negative isn't such a big deal after all.......but it sure upset me! 8\

eBay Feedback Removal Policy

eBay users should use caution and good judgment when leaving feedback for another user — what you write is published to the entire eBay community, and you can't later go back and edit your remarks... it's a permanent part of that user's record. Circumstances where eBay will consider removing feedback:

eBay is provided with a ruling or settlement agreement from an eBay-approved certified dispute resolution service. Such a ruling may be issued if the feedback recipient initiated a dispute resolution process and the member who left the feedback does not respond to the request for mediation.

eBay is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal, or with a settlement agreement resolving such a lawsuit submitted by both attorneys and signed by both parties.

The feedback, on its face, has absolutely no connection with eBay, such as feedback related to commercial transactions that were not conducted through eBay. The feedback contains any link to another page, picture, or JavaScript.

The feedback contains profane or vulgar language, or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc. is strongly discouraged but will not be removed.

Feedback that contains personal identifying information about another user, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.

Feedback that makes any reference to an eBay or law enforcement organization investigation, i.e., "eBay is investigating this person".

Negative feedback intended for another user will be considered for removal only in situations where the user responsible for the mistaken posting informs eBay of the error and has already placed the same feedback for the correct user. This does not apply to a comment that was mistakenly marked negative instead of positive or vice versa.

Feedback left by a user who provided eBay with false contact information during the transaction period (as verified by eBay), and cannot be contacted.

Participating in an eBay transaction with the intent of leaving feedback as part of a campaign to harass one or more members.

eBay may give special consideration to remove feedback upon request from members if the listing ended before the member was suspended, but the feedback was left after we reinstated the member.

Well now that I left negative feedback for her, NOW she e-mails me.

Her excuses sound fishy though.

The auction ended on October 20th. I give 2 weeks to pay. She told me she'd be sending a MO . . . great. 2 weeks go by, nothing. So I e-mail her. No reply. So I wait another week or so, then file a non-paying bidder report. Still nothing. Wait another week or more. Finally I leave negative feedback today, just stating that she was given over a month to pay, didn't, and didn't answer e-mails.

So I get an e-mail from her saying she sent me 2 emails that she sent payment, and one was even a week ago. So she waited a month to send payment? Or didn't send it because i didn't answer her e-mail? No matter what the excuse, payment didn't get to me within the 2 weeks, so that alone could warrent negative feedback (many people are not lenient at all about payment deadlines!)

Funny how I got her e-mail that she's sending payment, and then didn't get another e-mail until I gave her negative feedback? But somehow 2 e-mails got lost in between? Guess I'm not buying it.

She didn't leave me any negative feedback yet, but if she does I'll just respond that she had over a month to get payment to me, and never did.

Such in life in eBay land! :)

You can go through Square Trade and pay $20 for their services, but is it worth it? A little over a month ago, I got 3 negatives from one lady who I swear must be the type who lies so much she even convinces herself. I debated over going through Square Trade to have it removed, but I decided to keep my $20. I replied to my negatives andI don't think anybody believed her (my sales were going great), especially since she had a pitiful feedback profile at the time and she was my first negative out of 400+ in 4 years time.

Hoo boy... You must've gotten my bidder! LOL! Mine did this too. She emailed once at the end of the first of 3 auctions of mine that she bid on, wanting to know the total and my address. I emailed her back right away and pointed out that she could combine the auctions if she won the other two and I'd email her with total then. I did, but she never responded. Payment was due in 1 week. When after 2 weeks had long passed, I sent the Payment reminder, then the NPB alert and when she still hadn't contacted me, I left the negative feedback. Then she has the nerve to email me claiming I'm being a b****, she's already sent payment twice and this was supposedly the third email she's sent. Hmmm... isn't that funny how I didn't get her payment NOR her emails?? She then sends me a check (which I said I would not accept) through Prioirty Mail. (HINT - Priority Mail actually takes LONGER for sending just a plain little envelope so save your money). And she leaves me negative feedback claiming I wouldn't send her her stuff and I wouldn't refund her money, all the very day the envelope from her was postmarked!

There is slight comfort in knowing she is the very first person like this that I have encountered in my 4 years on ebay.

Negative feedback cannot be removed, however as others have said, there is a comment section available for every feedback you receive.

I get about 4 lousey buyers a year. None have ever retailiated (knock on wood). However, I am waiting for the "one" mentioned in my response to the other ebay thread, sigh.
