I am new to coupons and don't understand how to double coupons when the manufactourer coupon's say not to. Any advice for someone starting out?

Hi,
If it says right on the coupon, and many do, Do Not Double - you cannot double them. But there are many coupons that you'll find that don't say that, most of them probably in your weekend newspapers - check them to see which ones have the best coupons without having a restriction on doubling. Those the stores will double for you, up to usually $1.00.
Hope that helps,

Kat

Re: Double Coupon Question

My local Krogers will double any coupon up to fifty cents in value - even the ones that state DND. The DND is the manufacturer covering themselves against paying more than the coupon's face value, but Krogers doesn't care. They are eating the extra money themselves in an attempt to gain/keep your business.

Re: Double Coupon Question

I'm a cashier for Ralph's and often, coupons that say DND are not programmed in the system to not double. Thus, they double up the amount up to $1.00. If a cashier is strict or has personal issues, he or she will often hit a button on the keyboard that prevents it from doubling prior to scanning. Also, Ralph's has an ad in every Sunday LA Times/Daily News. They advertise deals with that weekend's coupons and show all of them doubling, even coupons that say DND. Because of this, we have to double them even if they are programmed not to.

Re: Double Coupon Question

I've been finding that I have to tell the cashiers which coupons to double or triple. If I don't say something they put them in at face value. I am going to have to start shopping at Tom Thumb more often because I think it is the same thing as Ralphs. Thank you for the tip.
