| Newbie (or cou-bie) question
Hello- I am new but excited to get couponing, as I have been reading a lot about how much you all save!! So I have a very basic question for you seasoned coupon vets... I am trying to establish some regular places to look for coupons to clip for myself, and I get the sunday paper, and have found great ones on this forum. But can anyone share with me maybe the 5 regular places they look each week for the best grocery coupons? I would love to be able to start contributing to this forum, and want to get started hunting! Thanks to you all for your advice, J |

Hi! Welcome to DOD. Glad you are interested in couponing, I am considered the Coupon Queen by many, both on here and off the computer. I keep a huge binder with baseball card pages that I use to keep them organized. One of the best tips I can give you, if that if you store allows you to use multiple coupons, then don't be afraid to pick up more than one of those Sunday papers. As long as what you are saving is more than what you are going to be spending on the newspapers, it is well worth it. Some weeks, I pick up 10 or more. There is no law that says you are only allowed to have an use one of each coupon, as long as if you use 5 coupons, you have purchased 5 of that item. Now, online printables are great, if your stores accept them, CoolSavings always has some good ones, so does SmartSource.com, then there are specialty sites that list coupons, both printable and snail mail and I will paste in the links to a few of those for you, as well. My favs for sign up and print are Couponbug.com and Coolsavings.com they are a pretty easy sorce to get some coupons and its easy to sign up and neither one really "spam" your mailbox. Woman's Day Coupons : http://microsite.coupons.com/gmsb/Of...ZID=uv52&NID=2 Some of the same offers but a few new ones. And well....The real trick is just to Google! ....alot! |

A question for you coupon gurus ...When a site requires that their "Coupon Print Manager" be installed, it is safe to go ahead and do that? I'm concerned about viruses, etc. and want to be careful

I've never had a problem with it especially from ones like coolsavings, eversave and the bigger more popular trusted sites. Even the manufacturer sites for specific products. I print coupons alot and my only suggestion is that befor eou print if you have a "real time" anti-virus protection or firewall disable it while your are printing coupons or it may block you. These sites tend to use cookies to make sure you don't print more than the allowed limit. Firewalls and antivirus tend to not like it and my keep you from printing. I do this all the time and when I am done couponing I simply turn my antivirus and firewall back on.

I have been calling the companies (especially the baby ones I get coupons for all the time) and informing them that I am no longer able to use the ones from the internet in my area and asking them to mail me some instead, none have had a problem with it. In fact some of the coupons (usually multiple and lots of different ones from all thier products) are usually better coupons than the ones they offer for printing anyways! If you click on the contact us link on manufacturer sites for the stuff you buy, the usually have a phone number listed... just push whatever extension is going to get you a human! LOL machines are hard to bargain with!!! ![]() Oh and thanks for the munchkins comment!!! (can ya tell I am a proud momma??? LOL)

I used to use Coolsavings, but I'm not very impressed with them anymore. Someone also told me, I don't know how true it is, that people were somehow getting viruses on their computers from Coolsavings. I like the coupons.com and couponbug.com because even though they both offer the same coupons alot of times, if you use the product, each site lets you print two coupons at a time, so you can get four coupons if you need them between the two sites, and they usually let you print them again after a short period of time.

I also wanted to suggest that you call the companies for the products you usually buy (800 # usually on packaging) I get really good coupons that way!!! It seems to be faster then emailing. I just call tell them I like the products and that I wanted to request coupons for any products they are offering htem for. The send them out 99% of the time (once in a while they'll say they don't have any at the present time) Good Luck!
