turbosweeps question

I just installed turbosweeps on my new computer and want to import my old sweeps but there isn't an option to import under the file menu like there used to be. Any ideas

Mariam

Did you back up TS on your old computer? If so, you can copy the file from the disk into the TS folder.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll wait to reinstall until after they add the import/export feature again.

That could be a long time from now from my experience with Turbo.

It is very easy to drag and drop your old sweeps into it through Windows Explorer. I would be happy to try and explain it if you want to try.

LOL Okay Sandy...I'll try

Open Windows Explorer.....Go into the C Drive(Your Harddrive) and then into the Turbosweep folder. There is a folder marked "User0". This folder contains all of your sweepstakes that are listed in Turbo. You will need to make a copy of this file. You can just right click it and a box will pop up with options. Just click on Copy. Then go to your desktop and right click on any open space. Another box will pop up. Click "Paste" This will copy the folder to your desktop so that it is easy to find...In Mariam's case if she is trying to move the info from one computer to another she will need to copy this folder onto a floppy disk or a cd if she has a burner. Or she can just send a copy of it to herself through the email if both computers are hooked up to the internet. This is also a good way for someone new to Turbo to import sweeps from another user.

Now shrink your window that has Windows Explorer open in it so that you can see both it and the folder that you just copied to your desktop. The you would just drag the folder from your desktop and drop it into the Turbo folder. It should then just import the sweeps into Turbo.

The only problem that I have encountered is that if someone already has sweeps listed in Turbo there will be a conflict with the numbers. For instance each sweep is identified by a number. 1 through however many sweeps you have listed. If you were importing sweeps from me for instance, then the sweeps that you already have listed would probably be numbered 1 through whatever also. You would have to change the numbers to a number higher than what you have listed. Did that make sense? LOL

Anyway that is basically how you do it. I know that I probably did not make a lot of sense but it is really easy when you go to do it. Let me know if you need anymore info and I will try to do better explaining it!!LOL

Ohmygosh!! Why didn't I think of that!??!?! Yes...that sounds so easy and I am sure it would work. Going to do it tonight when its nice and quiet around here and I can concentrate. Thanks for explaining all that, Wendy! Hopefully I can get to some sweeps that I have forgotten about but have in an old folder.

Thanks for the idea! I did export the sweepstakes on my old computer before, then emailed it to my new one, and tried dumping it in my user0 folder. But an exported file is different from just copying the folder, right? I'll try it!

Actually it should work. If you have the exported file on your computer you should be able to just drag and drop it into Turbo through Windows Explorer. Let me know if it works for you!

How do I attach the whole folder to my email? I can only figure out how to attach documents and each sweepstake is considered a document!

The best way that I know is to use a zip program to zip it and attach it to the email. If you do not already have a program for this you can go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] and download the evaluation version for free.
