Ideally, the price needs to be under $1000 shipped to zip 57007 - it would be even better if someone can help me find one for less than $750, as this is going towards my son's school & their budget is very tight.

The computer must be complete & have the following:

Windows XP (Home version)
128 megs ram (more is better - I'd love to find one with 256 megs)
10 gig hard drive (here again - bigger is better, 20 gigs would be so much nicer!)
DVD player
17" monitor

They don't really need a keyboard, mouse, modem or speakers as I can supply these items from my house. It would also be nice if a TV tuner or some kind of video input was available, but it's not necessary.

I need to make sure the purchase is done by Monday, 26 November, so I'll close the contest on Thanksgiving at 6:00pm EST. The person who posts the best complete deal (provided of course that I do not find something better - and I update with other deals I find) will have their gift certificate immediately so you can use it for holiday shopping.

Ok.. I've already checked the deal that was running on our TV here from IBM ([Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]) & the total cost was $1099.xx with WindowsME (meaning we'd have to update the OS )

I don't know much about computers, but at the b&m, we sell a ton of the compaq pressario models for $698.

Also, the day after thanksgiving, we always have huge sales, and there is always a computer that is the "blitz" special--may save you on shipping, but you would have to brave a really crazy crowd !

I just got an email from the school's director. They cannot purchase a Gateway, HP or Compaq machine because of contractual agreements (don't ask - I didn't get any further information). The school also cannot do rebates - the discounts must be able to come off immediately as there simply is no extra money & I can't front large amounts and wait to be refunded either.

Also, remember the monitor must be at least 17" & must be included in the offer. The price must not be more than $1000 shipped - the budget only has $945 in it & I am picking up the rest and really cannot afford more right now.

Here are the following offers that have been posted so far. I still need to verify the deals & add the shipping/taxes/etc to each to find the true totals (including upgrading monitors, etc so that the computer will fit the minimum the director wants for the school). Once I do this, I'll post the new list showing who's in the lead for the Amazon gift certificate. Also, I'm in South Dakota, for those who can't use the zip to get shipping/tax info.
