Am I the only person who thinks something was a bit off with Greet and Win? Thousands must have done this daily and yet a small handful of individuals won multiple times. Nothing against them...~Congrats~...But it just doesn't seem right mathematically. Were the algorithims they applied skewed? Sign me... You know, I don't know. I won twice from GNW (one hourly and one daily) and I know that I was doing anything special when I won. I would like to think that everyone that earns entries has an equal chance at winning.

I hope no one thinks that I was being unpleasant when I penned the post but my actual question stands... ![]() PS...Once more let me say that this is not a slam to the multiple winners...I just can't see it in any mathematical sense so it has got me wondering. Oopps, had to look up algorithims first before answering! It does sound weird that their were so many multiple winners... the day I won my hourly was the only time I entered at a differnt time period, most times I enter in the morning and that day the site was down and I had to enter in the afternoon. Go figure! But I bet alot of the hourly winners were during the early morning hours too.... dont know anything about the daily ones...dont think there was many multiple winners on that one.

It looks like this site is only 1 1/2 mos old. Or at least that's how long they've been giving out cash prizes. I doubt if there could be an extrememly large number of members already... And the members that they do have may not be as....... ummmm... errrr fanatic, hehe, about it as DoD'ers are, and, DoD seems to have gotten in on it very early on. Considering there has to be 176 winners per week... I'm surprised there haven't been more duplicate winners than there has been. Assuming all DoD'ers entered every day getting their 150 entries... those entries are not used for the next day, only passed on till the weekly drawing. So the next day all DoD'ers will each be starting again with their same 150 entries. Every day everyone will have the same odds as the day before of winning (the only change being whatever new members may have joined, and/or the amount of entries of non-DoD'ers). And we will also have the same chance of winning the weekly. Each day the site is getting new members our chances of a win are going down, and it does seem to me that there were more wins the end of last month and the begining of this month than the past week. Of course that could just be my perception because..... I HAVEN'T WON YET. Ahem... ok, better now. I don't see the benefit to the site to have a group of particular ppl winning. I also looked at the thread of when the winners have been entering their entries... I do it the same time as Mouse and Lightning.... about 1:00-2:00am, and have I mentioned I HAVEN'T WON YET??!! Just luck I guess... which I seem to have none of, but I'm not complaining (cough, cough). I'm very happy for the winners... errr mostly |

LOL Auti, you are too funny! Srondelet - your post reminded me of an experiment we did in school. The teacher went row by row and asked people's birthdays. He wasn't halfway through the class (about 40 kids total) when he got to a duplicate birthday. He said that he'd never had a class where everyone had a different birthday! I have no idea what this means, or what the lesson was but just thought it kinda went along with the thread.

Well, I hardly ever win anything...so I was really surprised to win at GNW. Do I think it was messed up? Well, I can tell you I don't have any special way of entering or anything...I am a bit worried about getting my money now though!!! |

Strondolet, I also find it very strange that some people have won 3 or 4 times! It just seems against the odds. Makes you wonder if some of the entries don't really make it through.
