Did anyone get a recent phone call from a place called sweepstakes corner? I just got a call saying, thank you for entering our sweepstakes sponsored by Visa, MasterCard & Amex, and for your participation, you win a Timex Watch and get 4 free magazine subscriptions. All you have to do is pay for an additional 2 magazines, and you can change them at any time... Then they call you back to confirm, asking for a credit card #. Has anyone heard of this, done this, or is it a scam? __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. Anytime a sponsor wants you to pay for a prize, it's most likely a scam. I believe this was just some sort of slick telemarketer calling you. The Timex watch is mostly like not a real one and even if it is real, it's probably the cheapest one they make. And the two magazine subscriptions that they are wanting you to pay for is probably jacked up in price. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. Sorry. it's a scam. I get the same call atleast once a week. They tell you you've already won 4 magazines and all you have to do is give you CC# and get and additional subscription, at a highly inflated cost. They always start the call with "this is sponsored by Visa, MC and Amex.....are you still a cardholder of one of these cards?" If you don't have a CC they end the call right there. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links.
