The whole Staples mess took place a little over a week ago. A couple coupons which were good for $10 and $20 off purchases of $10 and $20 got out to the general public. Many sites, ours included, posted the coupons thinking they WERE for general consumption. Well, to make a long story short, Staples lost their behinds on the deal. As soon as we heard from them, we pulled the codes from our site. Wow, did they get bombarded. In fact, it made CNet as a news story. Here's the story!

It's fascinating reading and really opens up a line of discussion about how merchants should make discounts available, and what they should do when things do not go the way the intend.
In fact, I think I will post this message to a new thread as well to see what others have to say about it.
