Angry SCAM ALERT!! READ

I recieved a letter in the mail today from the "Law Office of Attorney Matthew A. Farris" (Address listed as 1223 Wilshire Blvd. #271 Santa Monica, CA 90403)
In this letter it states you have inherited $769,635.78 from a relative who died in 1944. We wil not disclose the name of this relative, but in 1907 he opened a bank account with $2,500. When he passed away August 15, 1944 the balance was just under $12,000. Over the years wit hinterest it grew to $769,635.78.
It goes on to ask you to fill out a clain form, asking for name address, etc. Social Security Number (NEVER GIVE THIS OUT), e-mail (opt), and birthdate, as well as telephone number.
We charge an up front finder fee of ONLY $89.00 plus a 10% allocation fee once the money is transferred to your possesion. Failure to pay this allocation fee will negatively reflect on your credit report for a period of 5 years!
Then it askes for a signature and date to say that you agree to those terms listed above. Please send $89.00 finders fee along with filled out form.
I contacted the Attorney General's Office about it. I was already pretty certain it was a scam, I was told also that any company asking for money upfront is a scam.
Another dead giveaway is that there is no phone number listed to contact this "attorney's" office.
Please tell all of your friends. I would hate for someone to be taken in by this. I am always sceptical of everything by nature, but I am aware there are some "especially the elderly" who get taken in byt these scams all of the time.
Pass it on.
Thanks
Jennifer Smith

The Attonrey General's Office also asked me to send in the letter I recieved-I am also contacting the BBB later this morning-maybe if we all contact and send in these letters we recieve we can get this socalled attorney out of buisness. I know if won't stop scamming alltogether, but we can put a dent in it!
